Arrow Shotgun Accessory Poll

Just curious to see who has what, if anything, attached to their shotguns....

Leather Butt Cuff and a Tube Extension on an otherwise stock 870 with wood furniture and rifle sights.

I don't want anything else.

I chose "Other" for a shell-catcher. Important if you don't want to PO the person to your right when shooting trap.

I don't have any shotguns with doo-dads for "serious" use. Then again, all of my shotguns have been used to kill a lot of things, unlike most gadgeted-up weapons. Fortunately, all of those things were not only legal and fun to shoot, but tasty as well.

The one time I used a sling in the field, I ended up missing a nice rooster pheasant. I'll never let that happen again!

I'm taking it slow on accessories and modifications.

Most important mods to date have been the installation of a True Choke IC tube and lengthening forcing cone. Patterns were awful before but very good now.

Went with the Scattergun Technologies Ghost Ring sight system and replaced the birch stock and forend with Houge over moulded replacements. I tried a friends 870 with the sidesaddle and didn't like the way it felt--I may try it again to see if I can overcome that dislike.

I know more accessories are in our future but for right now I'm spending money only on practice ammo.

Best to you, Skunk.

Only add-ons for my home defense 870 are a sidesaddle, a composite foregrip for better grip over the factory wood foregrip and a tube extension.

My "main" shotgun (used for everything from skeet to IPSC) has a mag extension, sidesaddle, and a Tec-loader speedloader bracket.

Where is the option for adjustable stocks? An adjustable stock lets you actually hit something.......

An adjustable buttplate and sling is all I have on my most heavily accessorized shotgun, and only one other has any mods, that being a sling.

If you can shoot you don't need gizmos.

I installed mossberg factory GR sights on my 500, installed a home rolled giles type sling, shortened the stock because i don;t have ape arms, raised the comb height with neoprene spacers, installed a butt cuff, and made a surefire compatable weapons light out of a piece of 6061t6 round stock. (i'm waiting on some parts, once i get those, the light will mount on a rail on the forend).

when i'm skeetshooting or bird hunting, i can pull the light and sling off.

3 "tactical" shotguns:

Mossberg 500: Sling

Mossberg 590A1: Sidesaddle, CQB Solutions 3 point tac sling with buttcuff, Surefire weaponlight, factory ghostring sights, bayonet, barrel at Vangcomp.

Benelli S90 M1: CQB Solutions 3 point tac sling with buttcuff, tritium ghost ring sights.

2 "sporting" shotguns, no add-ons.

Hey y'all,

My HD shotgun (also the one I like to play with and accesorize) is a Mossberg 9200 semi-auto.

It has a 181/2 riot barrel with a modified choke. It does well with slugs and throws a tight shot pattern a pretty good ways. I live in the country in a pasture so I need to be able to reach out a little bit.

I have a 2 shot mag extension on it. I have a Millet saddle scope mount on it with a Millet SP-1 red dot sight. The saddle mount has a see-through channel on it for the iron sights that makes a great large aperature ghost ring rear for the bead front sight.

It also has a butler creek sling on it and a Beartooth neoprene camo stock cover set. I really like the neoprene foam/rubber combo. It holds tight to the gun with the rubber backing and protects the gun from rain and moisture and the foam cover is very warm to the touch and provides a positive grip. I am planning on getting these covers for all of my guns they are really good stuff.

I'm down to one shotgun, I have a sling ( somewhere I think) but it was used to and fro...like wading to a blind. or a deer stand.

Other than Nu-line chokes installed 20 yrs ago, because it came with a fixed choke, that' it.

I have used it with its 28" bbl at games, and I have used a shorter bbl a friend has in competition.

Blue and wood. Stock field grade. Lots of game, clays, prize monies...

Others I had, same deal, gun fit and trigger time invested. Last competition I attended (to watch I thought) I was 'asked' to compete. I used a stock 1100 and took 2nd . We removed the plug, and built up the comb with moleskin...borrowed enough gear to shoot. ( eyes ,ears, and used a shell pouch).

I have a side saddle, Eagle Industries buttcuff (way cool) and ghost ring sights on my Mossberg 590a1. The only problem is you gotta be a beast to hold it up fully loaded (8+1 rounds loaded, 6 on the side saddle and six more on the butt cuff, that is almost a box full of ammo on the gun and the 590a1 aint no fly weight to begin with) which is no problem because I AM and beast.

Skunk, guns are like golf clubs; the question "what do you want to do with it?" must always be addressed.

I have shotguns to defend El Tejon. If I fight with it, I want to identify my target as the Four Rules light is always lit, so I have a light. If I fight, I want extra ammo nearby, so I have a sidesaddle. If I fight, I may need two hands for something, so I have a sling.

Others have shotguns for recreation. Theirs will look different.

Didn't see magazine extensions as a choice, either...

Especially USGI magazine extensions, with a little extra lug for attaching sharp pointy things.
