Stainless Steel Shotguns

Besides the Mossberg 500® Pump Action Mariner

and the Winchester Model 1300 Coastal Marine

... Can anyone recommend any other stainless steel shotguns?

And which of them would be a good choice for general outdoor protection (not hunting but self-defense) from four-legged creatures (such as black bear, maybe brown bear, etc.)

I'd have to check the websites of both companies, but I thought the Mossberg was steel with Marinecoat, and the Winchester had a nickel or chrome finish. Some of the Ruger (Red Label?) are stainless. I could be wrong though. .....Whit

The only true stainless shotgun on the market is the Ruger Red Label All Weather. The others are plated.

Occasionally I get the idea of buying a marine shotgun and check them out. Seems to me that recent Winchester data says that the barrel is stainless steel and the other parts are nickeled or otherwise plated. Could be wrong but am pretty sure the Winchester website states that. I had a Ruger Red Label stainless all weather. Pretty slick but I traded it 'cause I am more interested in pumps. I was a good gun though and great in the upland field.

Here is a snippet quoted from the USRAC website regarding the Coastal Marine shotgun:

"With a nickel-plated stainless steel barrel, corrosion resistant, anodized aluminum alloy receiver and key parts that are plated for corrosion resistancea snippet quoted from the USRAC website regarding the coastal marine shotgun...: "

Wouldn't a stainless steel shotgun be a pound or so heavier than typical steel shotgun?

No, stainless steel is the same weight as regular steel. The only differences are in the alloying metals.
