Greetings from Texas

Hello to all! I am glad to be a member of what really seems to be a fine community of individuals who support freedom.

I am a long time hunter and shooter. I own numerous firearms. For pistols, I have a couple of SIGs and a Glock. I also have a weakness for bolt-action rifles. And, for the first time in my almost four decades on this planet, I broke down and bought a black rifle back in May. A DPMS LR308-AP4. Loving it!

Here's looking forward to future interactions on the board with many of you. Hopefully, we can learn much from each other.

We should all support the Second Amendment because let's face it, our children will inherit this mess when we're gone.

I used to pack it full of matchheads, rocket engine powder or the innards of firecrackers. I would then pack a wad of newspapers and light the fuse which ran into the small hole I drilled in the pipe. The gravel, marbles or pellets which shot out used to penetrate thin particle board.
Just a tip for your children

There is not much to tell about me. Married and have two older children as well as two teenagers adopted at their births. I was born in October 1940 in Charleston WV. I moved to Columbus Ohio in 1976 and then to Portsmouth Ohio in 1998. I love that Ohio!
Upon graduation from high school, I joined the Navy and did enjoy a total of 10 years active and reserve. Upon separation from active duty, I maxed the GI Bill graduating from college and graduate school. I worked 10 years at duPont in Belle WV and 10 years in the insurance business before finding my passion, representing fellow veterans before the VA.
I have an Enfield Model 2A MK3 308 which I enjoy, also a Beretta 9mm Navy commemorative.

Howdy all. I'm originally from Atlanta, GA, moved up here to TN about 6 years ago. Former military, lifelong shooter. I'm a member of the cult of the 1911 and my favorite 'plinker' is my FAL. Like most of 'em, and I even own a couple Glocks, a Kel-tec and a few other things.

New to the site.

I'm a member at Calguns.net and CaliforniaPredatorsClub.com

I live in, yep, you guessed it - California. South SF Bay Area. I'm fairly new to owning firearms, but used to shoot .22's as a kid with my dad. Just started getting into hunting a little over a year ago.

Most of the shooting I've been doing is trap shooting at the local sporting clays range...mostly because I found out that I was a horrible shot. Last year's waterfowl season I must have gone through well over 100 rounds of ammo, and only came home with 4 ducks and a sore shoulder. This year I expect to do a bit better.

I'm an AR-15 shooter in the low road state of New Jersey. I'm doing my best as a centrist to help people and the legislature act logically and with the constitution. Having said that, I'd like some tips. I've got a DCM rifle that I'd like to add optics (on the carry handle) to; as well as a flat top 6.8 spc upper with the same request. I'll take all advice, from CQB tips, to long range. I use both to shoot 25-600 meter (yes, 600 meter in NJ).
Also, I'm having a hard time finding cleaning supplies for the 6.8, as well as ammo. Remmington Express shoots well, but the Silver State Armory has averaged three misfires per box of 20. All tips are welcome; no I'm not going to move. The fight is ours and this is no tome to bail out.

Hello everyone!
I'm new here obviously and just wanted to say hello. I took a look around the net to find a forum like this one and The High Road seems to be the best. I'll be putting THR to the test and I hope everything goes well.

As for me... I'm a young man (27) living in the USA. I own a couple of guns and a relatively small collection of knives. My interests range from motorsports to philosophy. Guns and knives have always been part of my life and now that I've found THR I can finally keep up with other shooters.

I'll catch you all around THR!
Until next time,

Welcome to the new folks. Look around and search for the forums that fit your questions and you'll find lots of good information to mine.

TheHighRoad exists to provide a higher grade of discussion than is found on some other gun forums so antis and undecideds can see that gun owners and RKBA advocates are not the reckless misanthropes they tell everyone we are. Personal attacks, group stereotyping, macho chest-thumping, and partisan hackery are low road and hurt all of us.

I found this forum searching Google on "Marlin Cowboy".

I won't post much, because I don't have much advice to give.

I'm 50 years old, I still have the Glenfield Model 25 that I got for my 12th birthday, and I admit that I began feeling like a pretty good shot once I discovered that I got more squirrels after I took the scope off of it.

I'm not an avid hunter, but I have nothing against it. I own three Mossberg 500s (two shorties and one Slugster... love that gun...), one Remington 870, and one Winchester 1300 with slug and bird barrels. Also two Chinese 7.62mm: one SKS paratrooper and one SK infrantyman's rifle.

I sold all my pistols when my first child was born, except one Belgian-made Browning Hi-Power. I live on 100+ acres in the sticks of western NC. At the core of it, I'm armed because I'm a husband and daddy and, of course, "when seconds count, the police are only minutes away". From a more cerebral perspective, firearms make me feel like a prepared, and responsible, citizen.

These days, the lives I take with firearms are mostly rabid skunks or racoons. Responsible to do, and I'm happy to be prepared.

Angry new member

hi guys,

i'm from New Hampshire and i like hand guns mostly for self defense and for target shooting. i have a ruger .22 goverment competition target pistol and a springfield armory G.I. .45 auto. i have been having a problem with the .45 auto since day one. i bought it new and only put 150 rounds through it so far. everything i have read says its a good weapon. all it does is jam. most of the time i have to pull the slide back 3 times and eject 3 rounds before it will even chamber a round. then it may fire 4 or 5 rounds okay, then jam again. i've been using blazer 230 gr. fmj ammo. i came back from the range today disgusted and went and bought some remmington umc 230 gr. ammo to see if it will make a difference. i know the blazer is cheap ammo. if that doesn't make a difference, the next thing to look at would probably be the magizines. thinking of maybe buying some wilson combat mags. if the new ammo doesn't do the trick. any help on this problem out there would be appreciated.
thanx guys

Sort of new member

Hello! I've posted a time or to in that last year but I haven't been very faithful. I have quite a few rifles, automatics, and revolvers.

I have a Swedish Mauser M96 (1912) a Serbian Mauser 48 (in unissued like new condition) a AR-15 in M4 configuration, a Kel tek SU-16. a 1891/59 Mosin Nagant carbine to name a few. My new interest is the Lee Enfield. I'm waiting on the California mandated wait for my Enfield No 4 Mark 2. It was imported 4 or 5 years age still in the Cosmoline and owned by a local collector who fired only a few rounds through it before storing it. It looks factory new. It was rearsenaled before it was mummified in gauge and Cosmoline. Now it's mine and I hope to post pics soon. Perhaps someone can direct me to where I should post my pics. I'm not very good at moving around this site yet. My last post was a few days ago in response to a dialog that occured a while before. It's fun to talk about guns. God knows my wife doesn't even want to touch or look at them. God bless!
