I've had a healthy interest in guns since I was a kid. I was taught proper gun safety and respect for firearms by my uncle but never got much chance to enjoy firearms or shooting in my youth. I pursued the interest on my own as soon as I was old enough to purchase my first rifle, a beat-to-hell Yugoslavian SKS model 59/66. I'm firm in the belief that it is every able-bodied man's right and responsibility to arm himself with the means necessary to defend the life and liberty of his fellow countrymen, his family and himself. That just about covers it |

Hello, name's Steve.
I'm not new to the gun scene, used to go hunting with my dad as a kid, couldn't wait till I got my first shotgun. As far as handguns, I had a little piece o' junk .22 years ago, and traded it in at a pawn shop when I bought a Hi-Point 9 about 15 years ago. Shoulda kept the .22. I still have that Hi Point and along with it a Davis .380, a Remington 870 Express, a Thompson Hawken and my pride and joy, a Springer 1911 Mil-Spec SS. While I'm not new to guns, I am new to the whole cc world. I have applied and hopefully have the permit within 8 weeks. The Great State of MS does not include any type of training or classes to get the permit, so I'm educating myself. During my sweep of the net, I found THG about 2 days ago and this looked like a great place to meet folks and to educate myself. I live in Biloxi, rode out Katrina, I collect guitars (play them too on occasion) work on guitar amps, etc. I have a 1989 fox Mustang that'll do the quarter in 12.65 seconds. That's it for now! |

Hey guys!
Hey, I'm a new member, I'm 20 years old and my interest in guns is pretty much everything, especially tactical/self-defense. My dad was a Navy S.E.A.L so I pretty much grew up around such things, and its my main hobby/interest.

like minds!
i've always been a gun nut and hunter but just took my c.c.w. class and then applied (awaiting approval).
i've always been in favor of carrying but until iowa's 'shall' law there was little chance in my area due to area sheriffs political views. i'm a ultra-conservative (with non-psychotic libertarian sprinkles) and was amazed at my 'rhino' sheriff's ideas on the subject. in the process of doing research of doing research on rights, laws, weapons, accessories, etc. this forum kept poppin up! i amazed at the knowledge and experience of the members! thanx all!

I am new to the Forum. I have a couple of pistols, a .357 mag old Vaquero (from which I got my nick-name) and an SR9c. I also have a semi tricked out 1022 which I enjoy shooting and tinkering with tremendously. I deer hunted for the first time this year along with my 11 yr old son. I am planning to by a Venture weathershield 7mm-08 to hunt with this coming season. I really enjoy the forum and look forward to getting to know everyone. Also, I live in Tennessee.
All the best, Joe Vaquero |

new guy
Thought I would register and enjoy the info offered here. Raised in TX and southwest KS. I enjoy shooting and hunting. Love to see the kids and wife when they are hitting targets. Currently in the 82nd. Been with the 101st as well, and enjoyed my time at both. Probably a lifer, and gun nut lifer as well. I am interested in small bore rifle and pistol shooting, and silhoutte shooting. Never competed in either but want to learn. Thanks for any future advice or education I might recieve from you guys.

Hi Folks,
I'm 69, had one or more guns since my grandma taught me to shoot in my teens. Have shot some skeet and have concealed-carried a .38 revolver some for decades. Recently bought a Walther PK380, which seems to fit me better and is easier for my arthritic hands to operate. Enjoying looking around this website and plan to return from time to time to keep up on what's happening. Best regards to all! |

Been lurking for a couple of weeks. Wife got me a Berreta 391 shotgun for Christmas and after going shooting a few times realized I missed shooting my other guns. Have a Glock 23, S&W .38 six shooter, rugger 10/22, and a S&W .38 special. Started shooting again and have now become a gun nut(according to my wife). Just bought a glock 17 with RONI (waiting on the damn tax stamp is driving me nuts), SIG Mosquito with Ghost suppressor (waiting on stamp for suppressor also). member of NRA, Gun Owners of America and 3 gun clubs here in Jacksonville, FL.

Having just registered, wished to say 'Hi', and thanks to all for being here. Great place to learn. Love the Constitution of the United States and grateful to all the law abiding defenders of those priceless institutions.

I’ve been reading the forum compulsively for about 6 months now, and I think I am finally ready to contribute back to the community here. I am fairly new to firearms. I am a graduate student in Alabama. If anyone is in the central Alabama area that is into shooting, and possibly hunting, please feel free to contact me. I would really like to find some shooting buddies (the girlfriend only likes shooting with me so often before making me go to dance shows and such…
). I own two guns: a Ruger GP-100 4” stainless .357 mag and a Gen 4 Glock 19 that I picked up about two weeks ago. I’m currently in the market for my first M1911 (leaning towards Colt) and my first rifle (looking at combat .308s that will be useful for both the range and hunting). I am really new to the shooting sports, but I have been doing my research now since becoming interested last summer. I am doing my best to educate myself on safe shooing and responsible firearm ownership, and hopefully forge some friendships along the way. I am glad to join y'all here on THR. Nothing classier than a bunch of well-armed, level-headed folks hanging out shootin’ the breeze. ![]() Please feel free to message me. I am very open to suggestions and advice. |

I've been reloading since 1969. (Original Lee Loader in 41 Mag). Currently reload for 380 auto, 38/357, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, 45 ACP, 45 Colt (+P, too), 460 Rowland, 280 Rem and 375 H&H.
I have and still use an RCBS Junior 3 single stage for bullet pulling and resizing. I enjoy my Lee Classic Turret. Am lucky to have my dies for each caliber on their own turret insert. Makes it easy to change calibers. ![]() I still use a Lyman Ohaus D5 balance that I bought in 1969 for $13.20. I have a calibration weight set to check accuracy over a range of weights. I won't be getting any of the electronic scales. Don't trust them. I do have an abiding trust in gravity. Use a chronograph so I can use velocity as a pressure checker. Too fast means too hot. Also, I have 13 reloading manuals and have downloaded manuals from the powder manufacturers. Cautious sort am I. This is the best site for shooting on the web. The members are knowledgeable and quick to pick up on the phonies like the proverbial "I'll be trout fishing in and area frequented by grizzlies. What handgun should I get. Oh, and by the way, I've never shot a pistol."

HI. Just joined. I'm member of a few other gun forums, also the 1911TechTalk list.
I'm rural, Libertarian, SF fan, Hydroelectric Operator, living in the great Pacific NorthWET, loving it. Commotion in my life the last few years (2+ years of expensive divorce) has kept me from the reloading bench for a while, but I hope to get back to it and supplement my RCBS with a Dillon. I drive various rigs, from My Beloved Kathleen's Grand Cherokee (finishing up a suspension lift in the shop) to an ex-cop 2000 Crown Vic, to my old ugly International backwoods 4x4, ride a Suzuki DL650, grew up an "airport brat" around light planes, and am interested in pretty much all things mechanical. I'm into preparedness, and believe that global economic and U.S. monetary collapse is now unavoidable, particularly since pretty much everything the Obamination's Regime has done was calculated to make it worse. I want the one thing no goverment will ever give me: Leave me alone to live my life. I'm a 1911 fan, but have owned a Glock for years, and just bought a Springfield XDM in .45 auto, so it's not a religion with me. I have a couple of nines, love my .45's, no interest in the .40 but wouldn't mind playing with a 10mm oneday, to see if it can really be an autoloading .41 magnum. I have the greatest respect for the versatility of the .357, own a .44 and a .454 and just plain enjoy all arms.

New guy here from Texas. Just wanted to say hello
hey guys,
I am a first time gun owner checking in. I am a 23 year old college student who currently attended UT Austin and I purchased my first handgun this past saturday. The one I purchased was a H&K P30L with night sites but I ended up going back today after a two day lay down to buy a Springfield 1911 45 acp loaded in stainless steel. The 1911 was the reason I got into guns to begin with, so I had to get one. I've gone to the range only a handful of times but hopefully I can get better. |

Welcome! You have picked a mighty nice pistol for your first gun! College students must be more financially stable than back in my day. If we were lucky, we had enough money to buy the week's supply of beer.
