Hi all. Retired State Parole. I love to shoot, love to tinker, am a so-so hunter here in Pennsylvania. I'm in my late 50's and have taked two deer (one buck, one doe). Although I continue to try...
I am a Life Member of the NRA. I have shot IDPA (numerous events in PA only), have one guest try at 1000yards bench rest w/ a 7mm mag (got 7 out of 10 on paper--it's a big paper!). I used to shoot skeet and trap frequently (never had a 25). I have shot a local club 22cal target events (28 foot distance--the smallest range of the firehalls-got a 99 once...) And have shot numerous qualifiers for work. Howa 1500 300wsm, 24" barrel in ss made in 2004. various ak's over time--like the action's design simplicity (I have owned an ar15, but sold it --I just didn't like the rubber parts inside the action) O/U shotgun in 12 gauge Colt 45 made in 1999 Glock21sf S&W 357 Springfield Arms xd 9mm 22cal target rifle 22cal Ruger target pistol And did i mention, I like to tinker--stoning triggers (under the supervision of a gunsmith). Shooting is fun!! Last edited by PKA; December 18, 2011 at 08:49 AM. Reason: additional information |

Hi everybody. I've been on TFL and have been reading THR for a while now. Thought I would chime in here too.
Living in Kansas by way of Central Texas. Ex Army. Been hunting and shooting since I was old enough to follow dad's footsteps. Good to be here. |

Hi I have several guns of different calibers, I have been reloading for about 10 years.
Most of my stuff is fairly large caliber because I used to live on the edge of the Alaskan wilderness. I like hunting and fishing and racing hydroplanes and dragboats. THR is the best I have seen. Glad to be a member! Boatracer |

New to this forum, somewhat new to guns
Hi everyone. I'm a grown man whose shot a few times now, and have yet to purchase my own firearm (I plan to soon - you may see a post of mine looking for a Beretta). My old man always had a rifle, in more recent years a single action revolver. I've shot with a friend, and my brother and I will be shooting together soon.
I'm glad I found this site; there's a lot of useful information. And it's refreshing to be reminded that the majority of gun owners are responsible and intelligent individuals. Cheers. |

New Here
Met the Range master @ Rose Lake DNR Public Range last year (again, he is 86) DNR (Michigan Department of Natural Resources)
We first met in 1968 @ Shiawassee County Conservation Club. He graded my DNR/MUCC Hunter Safety/Firearms Class Test, for instructor, who was area DNR Conservation Officer Frank Bishop. Knew my family and said he remembered me. Don't know why but hope it was for being a good student. Joined the local range and Club in Lansing MI area, Chief Okemos Sportsman's Club. Their range has members only (No yahoos ! and safer) 25,50,100 & 200 yd ranges. The 200 yd. 183 meters is challenge for in-line black powder accuracy. Scope doping is still enjoyed for deer hunting. Last shot for humanly taking a deer was 149 meter shot. Practice. practice, practice and tinker and practice... most will agree that makes the 46 meter shot more accurate (easier) Also enjoy 23 meter pistol range for .22 AND New BSR40 Ruger the new home/SD Auto. Need to tinker the .40 Short&Sweet rounds yet. Rant is over Merry Christmas to all! Keep your friends close and ... DD |

Hi I live in northern Alberta where my son and I are avid hunters of moose, whitetail and mule deer, elk, bear, coyote and wolves. Recently bought a Thompson center pro hunter. I have a .375 hh mag, .300 win mag and 7mm rem mag barrel for it. Debating about if there is any benefit in a 6.5 x284 over the 7mm mag.

I got into guns a little later in life than most, I guess. For a summer activity two years ago I took an NRA pistol course with my then 14-year old son and we were hooked. That week we bought a traded-in S&W 38 Special. This last summer I bought a traded-in Sig P226. I just got an inexpensive holster and I'm planning to start steel shooting at our local range next summer. I have a concealed permit but don't carry because I don't feel that I am experienced enough for that responsibility yet; also the guns are huge
I am outspoken and enthusiastic about my new time/money thief and challenge my peers' notions about shooters and gun ownership.

Hello from the "Free State" of Maryland where if I want to CC I have to go to one of any of the surrounding states to legally carry my firearm. A friend of mine told me about this forum and I look forward to reading and interacting with you.

Howdy all. New member here originally from Ohio, but I'm stationed with the USCG in Virginia right now.
I've been shooting for a long time...since I was a kid. I've got your basic hunting guns (12ga, Black Powder, .22), I also have a Marlin 1895G 45-70 (my pride and joy). I'm starting to build a collection of EOTW guns and hope to have myself reduced to .40, .308, and 12ga as far as those types of guns. My .308 is a Remington 700 VTR with a Nikon Monarch 4-16x50. I love that gun! Next purchase will probably be a Kel-Tec KSG if they ever get off their azzes and release it! As far as hand guns, I've got a Springfield XDM40 and my carry gun is a G23. I'm looking to move to a Sig P239 for carry though...The Glock is just a bit too thick. Thanks for the membership and I look forward to giving and receiving information here. Hobo |

Hi everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick!) Sorry, stupid Simpsons reference...
I'm from Grain Valley, MO, which is a small suburb just outside of Kansas City. I have enjoyed shooting since I was a wee little lad (we used to live out in the county where it was legal to burn off a few rounds in your back yard if you wanted to). I'm mostly into the black gun phase right now, but I can still appreciate a thing of beauty (i.e.: a neat old Colt trooper, or maybe a winchester model 12, etc.). But I will shamefully admit that if something has been branded as "Tacticool", I will probably give it a second look... ![]() Aside from that, here I am. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm not guaranteeing I'll know the answer, but you know how that goes. Cheers everybody! |

Another FNG
I am new here, been shooting for a minute. Primarily its about the black rifle and Glock 19. The more I shoot the more I realize how much I have to learn, this is like another martial art a very expensive martial art.
I got bit by the long range bug a while back so latley I have been spending time with my 308. I have a wee bit of experience so maybe I can contribute here. Mostly I am looking for like minded folks who are not obsessed with the colour of their overpriced AR or worried about an apocalypse. |
