Interested in Originality and Patina

I'm brand new to this site. I reside in coastal central California and primarily hunt waterfowl. I am a 3rd generation waterfowler. My interest here is in originality of legendary shotguns such as Ansley H Fox Doubles, Browning A-5s', Remington Model 11s', Winchester Model 12s' and Remington Model 58s' in the shotgun realm. As to rifles my interest runs toward Winchester 61s' 90s' and 94s' Remington 12s' and 700s' and Savage 99s' in that realm. As to handguns, Smith & Wesson early K-22s' and Combat 19s', High Standard HD-M or Military, early original Colt 45s', Woodsmans' and 3rd issue Colt Match Target in that realm. In Military stuff I am only interested in the Rock-ola .30 carbine. I have no interest in restored finishes nor kluged together mixed parts; just correct parts and correct patina, screws and parts. Optics are always interesting. I once knew just about enough to get into trouble. Now I know a little more and realize that a lot of you know a lot more than I do. I hope I can make a contribution to the members of THR.

Hey all. I have always been into hunting and sporting. Love to shoot clay. Like target shooting with my pistols. Recently been trying to edge into some competitions, just entry level stuff. Just started reloading, and decided to seek out experienced minds.

Hi, and welcome. I would recommend starting a thread in the rifle section, most members who would be helpful probably don't regularly check the new member section. (And unfortunately, I don't know a lot about this particular rifle.)

How long is the barrel, and does it have the cartridge for which it is chambered stamped on the receiver or barrel? (Probably says "45-70" somewhere?)

Hi, Thank you
It doesn't have a cartridge in it. It's the Trapdoor rifle...i know very little about rifles, but it looks exactly like the images i've searched. It's quite heavy, 9lbs?

I'm primarily into shotguns, own an 870 express. Been trap shooting casually for a long time, picked up my hunter's safety card recently and am just getting into duck hunting. Looking into picking up a bolt action rifle and a handgun, possibly a 1911. Interested in WW2 era guns. Avid fisherman and death metal guitarist. Came here for the lifetime NRA memberships, figured I'd say hi.

Anyway, here I am. From NY. I like rifles: a couple .308s, some 7.62x39, and other stuff.

FNG

I'm a middle-aged husband, father, and attorney who enjoys his time in the downstairs gun room, attending sporting events (mostly my son's college baseball team), walking the dog with my wife, and keeping up on the socio-political issues of the day.

I'm a Goldwater Republican (early Reagan), which means I'm a libertarian who's been turned off by both parties lately. I don't think the government should be used as a vehicle to impose one side's values upon others, and that seems like both sides are obsessed with doing that. There was a time when Republicans were opposed to doing that and rightly characterized liberals as social engineers. But since 1973 and especially since 1995, this neoconservative crowd seems to be just as bad if not worse.

I suppose I'll be contributing some to the Legal forum, in addition to asking questions and seeking advice in the others.

My collection includes: Glock 34, Glock 19, Kahr PM9, and a Taurus Model 62 Carbine.

Howdy,
I registered a while back but haven't posted yet so I figured this was the best place to start. Like all you folks here I love to shoot. I am located in the MN/WI area. I started into reloading earlier this year which has become just as much fun for me as going out shooting. I recently completed a course to become an RSO at the gun club I am a member. I also help out as a shooting coach for a class we have to introduce ladies to firearms and how to shoot. Looking forward to chatting with you folks on THR forums.

Looking for a good gun forum

I've been looking for a place to discuss firearms among informed and professional individuals. Hoping this place can fulfill that. I'm a college student in Flagstaff, I'm a big fan of classic rifles and revolvers, metal and wood is my preference.

Another new member

Hello,

My gun is a gp100 with a 3 inch barrel. I am somewhat of a Ruger fan. My wife is interested in a lcr 357. She likes the way the revolver fits her hand and she is not recoil shy. She favors a 1911 45acp but considers it too heavy for carrying all the time. We are both getting ccw permits and will carry everywhere. This is because of an attack by some scumbag who apparently just wanted to hurt someone because he never said a word. He just started slashing my wife with his knife. I heard my wife's screams and rushed outside to see what the trouble was. The guy then turned his attention to me. We scuffled around until I managed to land a solid punch. This caused him to turn and run away. I couldn't follow because my wife needed immediate attention. It took three units of blood and numerous stitches to save her. He is still out there somewhere and I can only hope that next person he tries to hurt is carrying.
