Hello. Im way down south in Superbowl/Mardi Gras town...I hunt with bolt actions mainly and have a thing about shooting accurately in those so spend a lot of time shooting different loads, tweaking triggers, etc. Otherwise am pretty basic, although i have an urge to build a 223 with select components, which is how i found my way to this site. Ill start a thread shortly on that topic and am sure you gurus can guide me in the right direction

I'm John And not really new (Dec last year) never gave info. I live in the largest town in Texas (No not Houston), am retired and grew up shooting and hunting-in S. Louisiana. Owning many rifles and pistols. Was an avid shooter with the La. State Police in the Late 60's and early 70's. Bought the first S&W Model 29 in 69. Haven't shot since. Got mt and the wife twin Sig P250's and a '58 Duramatic (in pristine shape) several months ago. We both got our CCL and plan to defend ourselves and anyone else who needs it. I refuse to bow down to an illegal alien in the White House, or any anti-constitutional liberal.

Greetings

Hello,
I've been lurking about for years and now have decided to join. I am recently retired from a career in Military Aviation. They forced me to retire due to Lou Gherigs Disease. I enjoy target shooting and formerly enjoyed hunting. Shooting to me is a family sport as well as a civic duty. I believe that it is a Fathers responsibility to teach his family to be proficeint in self defense as well as being able to hunt. I collect and where necessary restore mostly rifles. I love seeing the excitement of a new shooter when they "bang the gong" the first time. I am interested in learning more about different things as discussed here. My greatest pet peeve in the shooting world is the "Comic Book Store Guy" (like on the Simpsons) you know the type overweight, ponytail and goatee, expert at all things military and tactical even though they could never served a day. I hope to learn a lot and to pass on what I've learned.

Hello everyone! Long time fan, first time poster, but I figured that with the political climate we find ourselves in today, it's good to keep expanding my list of friends with similar interests!

I've browsed this forum before in search of advice from everything to ammunition reviews and recommendations, to DIY gunsmithing, and I've always been happy with the thoughtful and knowledgeable information that you all put forth. I hope to be able to contribute my own knowledge and experience, though I doubt it even comes close to rivaling many of the members within the community. Regardless, I wanted to introduce myself, as well as say a general thank you to all of you that post here!

Hello, I have been around guns my whole life and have owned since my father gave me a 16ga shotgun for my 12th b-day. I own mostly hunting style long guns, 22(lr,mag,hornet),270, 303sav, 30-30, mauser 7mm? (been so long since dad gave me that one I cant even remember the cal!), 7.62x39 (sks). Since my two boys are now 8-10 yr old I have started to talk to them about gun safety and getting them comfortable with them, not shooting yet, and I have started to regain my love for firearms. Then the tragedy happened in my state and my plan of getting a new toy for myself (AR style sport rifle) seems to be now totally out of reach. I have a steady job and provide for my family but after that there really is not much left for me to spend on myself and from what I am seeing and hearing, even if I could find a rifle or kit to build one, I could never afford it! Oh well, enough boo whooing from me. I am glad and excited to get back into the sport and just hope people of this great nation understand that its not about gun rights as much as its about our Constitutional Rights, we let them take one and whats to stop them from taking another and another. Those who dont learn history are doomed to repeat it. Thanks for welcoming me and I look forward to listening and learning, Tedd

I've used the forum for research. Thought I'd join in. I'm old but damned good looking. Been armed for 50 years. Many weapons along the way. Fav: Mini-14, 870 Wingmaster. Currently down to 12 ga Win 120. I don't think the Feds need to know who has what. I'm concerned how we turn this liberal tide. And why did the Feds need 7000 AR 15s? Who pulls the Prez' strings? Is he a Manchurian Candidate? Since when does the editor of the Harvard Law Review not have published casenotes? I'm guessing these are common concerns around these parts.

Hello from Ohio

After searching for info. on a few guns left to me by my Dad, I was very impressed with the help given to me by members here at this sight. The people here are very informative, as well as fast. The guns left to me are old, and wont be used often, if at all, but... my next quest will be getting a better idea on what to purchase for use as home protection. I was convinced that a 1911 was my choice( I just think that 1911's are great firearms). BUT... I have been told maintanance on them is more difficult due to the number of internal parts.
Seems many people think a Glock 17 is the way to go.

Another lurker.. decided to speak up and start posting.

I'm 35, Texan, family man, Pro 2A (I think thats a requirement for this site isn't it?)

Slowly built up a 'collection' if you will of guns over the past 10 years or so.
Recently became fascinated with Russian rifles, and even more-so the affordability and availability of the ammunition. So.. yes.... I also have a nugget. (should be a requirement for this forum lol.)

I'm quiet concerned with the actions of our elected officials and what their end game may be. Spend a lot of time sharing info that the news won't cover because..... for reasons I don't think need to explain here.

Anyway, looking forward to learning a lot and sharing what little I have learned.

Hi from Ohio

Hi from central ohio.

I have been shooting for close to 40 years and enjoy just about everything about shooting.
- Tight groups
- Heavy recoil
- The thrill of competition (trap and pistol)
- The smell of Hopps #9
- The look and feel of finely machined metal and wood
- The purity of a well designed machine no matter what it is made of

I enjoy shooting pistols:
- Ruger .22 LR (Mark II, SR22 and Single Six)
- S&W N frame .44 magnum
- Glock 9mm subcompact and full size
- CZ52

Rifles:
- FAL
- AR15
- PS90

Shotgun (mostly trap):
- Remington 1100
- Winchester Model 101 (just purchased a Diamond Grade)

I am getting back into reloading (when I can find components) and I love learning everything I can about any of it.

Best Home defense imho

Toad32r, welcome to the site, I have many people ask me what to buy for home defense and I usually will tell them that if it`s strictly HD your looking for the 12 gauge pump with #4 buck is my first choice. In close quarters it`s devastating and reatly reduces your chance of missing. Also just the sound of racking the slide is enough to scare away anyone with half a brain.

Hello

Hello from NW Mississippi. I am looking at improving my marksmanship and shoot long range, maybe even competition. With that in mind, I am very interested in reloading, casting, and swaging. I am still in the gathering information stage so any help will be appreciated. I own a Browning .270 (I actually inherited it and have never actually fired it, it needs optics). I plan on starting with this gun until or if I get really interested then spend some quality money on a .308 or 30/06 (depends on what deal I run across).

Hello all. I grew up on a farm in NW Georgia and I have been around firearms since I can remember. I enjoys my rim fires as much as anything, although I am a recoil junkie.

I love the forum and glad I found it.

Hi!
I normally frequent GPDO, but I figured that it is about time that I start branching out and get a national "temperature" (not that it isn't obvious) of 2A supporters and some of the legislation that is being passed or defeated. I look forward to seeing y'all around!
