Hi

Long time Gun owner here, New NRA member. For the obvious reasons I have a renewed interest in Firearms and the acquisition of what interests me. Interest picked up with the anticipated full service Gun Range opening up a few miles from me.
Guns I own

10 guage double barrel hammer shotgun, Belonged to my great Grandfather, I can trace it back to the 1880's It is a mantle piece only heirloom.
A bought new in 1961 Remington .22 Bolt action Nylon 12 in pristine condition
A Mossberg bolt action 3 shot .410 Shotgun handed down from my Grandfather currently getting a cosmetic reconditioning.Put a few squirrels on the table with it when I was a teenager.
A Taurus Model 66 6 inch barrel nickel plated .357 magnum purchased new.
A newly acquired Glock 23 .40 caliber.
A newly purchased Ruger 10 22 Walnut Stock and Nikon Pro Staff scope.
A ordered Henry Big Boy Lever action .357 magnum That I have long admired and finally pulled the trigger so to speak, hopefully arriving soon.
A 1927 Mosin Nagant 91/ Hex receiver, Tula Arsenal.

I like the layout of this forum and am glad to be accepted into the fold.

First question what sub forum would be appropriate to ask about recommendations for scope rings for my HRA Big Boy ? I already have the Henry factory rail.

Just found this thread. Hello and thanks to the board administraters for a great forum. Really enjoying the Higher Road, enough information to make your head spin! I'm an Operating Room Nurse in B'ham Al. Heart surgery since 1974. My great grandparents immigrated from Sicily and 3 generations ran mom and pop stores until the 70's when the neighborhoods our family store was located deteriorated past the point of no return. Needless to say, we always had firearms, concealed carry permits. I have my great grandfathers S&W "lemonsqueezer" that he carried while running his store, my grandfather's p-38 and my father's S&W 38 sp that he carried when he took over and, until he closed the business. Anyway, glad to be here and look forward to learning more from you folks. Just got my redding t-7 set up so really interested in the reloading section

Hi. My name is Chris. I've read many a thread on this forum in the past while doing research on guns, but finally got around to making an account. Hopefully I can contribute something. I am mainly a recreational shooter, but I do some hunting. I am also a reloader and a boolit caster. I'm also somewhat of a knife collector.

I am a TC and Encore reloader for 45acp, 357max, 22 Hornet, 30-06, Casual 454, and .223. Now that I have a SS Mini 14 chambered in 223, I am learning the in's and out's of feeding it bullets. Consequently my perfect 4198TC 223 loads must be kept separate from the Mini 14 223 loads. I am shooting barns 55 grain bullets in a 16" mini barrel. So far 25.4 grains of Win 748 pushes out 2800 ft/sec. And cylcles great (just as fast as I can pull the trigger). It is a wast.... but its fun. Never saw a mudpuddle I did'nt like. Yes preban30's and 20's are more fun than the stock 10'S and 5's clips.

Why I am contacting you... When propellent is readily available once again.
What is your favorite powder for 55 grain copper clad SPBT bullets in my 16" barrel Mini 14? I am looking at Win 748, IMR4895, H335, Accurate 2460, Reloader 10X

And again 55 grain bullets 16in barrel with a slower powder: TAC, Reloader 12, Accuate 4064, IMR 4064, and H4895.

Lot of folk seem to like all every powder I listed, but they do not always say how long their barrel is, if it is a semi auto, and what wieight bullentthey used.

My Thompson Contender has a very nice load book for all calibers and all powders and all pullet wieghts. Does the Mini 14 semi auto have a similar book or pamphlet.

By the way the AR seems to have a following using 65+ grain bullets. But I shoot 55 grain.

Thanks for sharing (in advance) your mimi 14 experince with me. I Chrono my loads at the muzzle + 2 yards. If closer, I shake up my Chrono.

Hello,
I am new to this board, but certainly not new to guns. I am a 72 year old retired Poleceman who makes predator calls and howlers. Calling coyotes is my passion, even though I am getting too weak in the knee's and my legs hurt a lot. Well maybe not a whole lot, but it feels like it. I love guns, all guns, but I came here to find answers for good strong bullets for my Marlin 1895 "Cowboy". Even though it ain't likely that I will ever hunt Griz or Brown bear, it will be nice to have a load for my .45-70 that will kill a Brown bear dead. Dead, Dead, Dead. I ordered a box of Buffalo bore's 350 grain flat nose penetrator's, but I want to find out which brand and model of bullet that is used by Buffalo bore. Why? Because I want to load my own Griz killer bullets.

Well now, I do believe I'm THR's newest member! I am in the Kansas City area. I like .22s, 30-06s, .444s, 45-70s, and everything in between, short or long. Side-by side and over-under is good too! I've been shooting for most of my 52 years, have recently started reloading. I want to start casting - thats how I found this site, whilst researching.

Looks like a great site. Looking forward to participating after reading stickies and learning the landscape!

Hello, I'm a retired male that had guns all my life. I hunted all small game,
Deer, Boar and Bear. I am currently interested into hunting coyotes. I have
shot many rifles and pistols but my favorites are Black Powder, shotgun and
50 cal. I mold all my own bullets. I currently have a 1974 Sheridan Lefted
Handed Silver Streak that I have not used in 20 years. I obtained it in 1981
and am trying to narrow down a value. The gun would rank as a 95. Thanks
Jay

Hi All. Love this site; I joined mostly to look in on the discussions. I am 60, an Outreach High School principal (we take the kids no one else wants), Hunter Training instructor, and just like to shoot.
I live in Eastern Alberta, Canada. Lots of deer, coyotes and prairie dogs. Don't own a wide range of guns:
2 Model 1890 Winchester pumps (one for parts)
Ruger M77 270
Tikka T3 lite in 204 Ruger
10/22
Rem 597 22mag
cheap 22, cheap 410
Colt King Cobra
Browning Challenger
Sig Mosquito
Browning 1911 22

Again, great site, very informative, glad I joined.

Just joined. I'm new-ish to guns. I had a 22 rifle when I was younger but it was stolen during a break in. I haven't touched a gun since I was about 12 until recently (35 now). My faither-in-law gave me a gun (unprompted by me) for home protection.

For about a year it sat locked up with no bullets in the house because I'm honestly not sure where I stand on that. Regardless of that, I have enjoyed shooting it. I'm now at the stage that I want to learn and really know how to use it. I want to learn the difference in ammo (not like I can actually buy any now)... possibly take a class to learn some basics... and maybe even get my concealed carry (if for nothing else to make it easier to buy guns in future should I choose).

Anyway, I'm full of questions and I've been searching and will probably be posting some soon.

I was a member years ago before the split with another site, then lost my account info, so I'm saying hello again. I'm looking forward to hear from all sides about firearms issues. I'm most interested in self defense firearms and ammunition.

Hello to all, I'm a brand new member. I'm a bit of a shooter but far from a expert. I certainly enjoy punching holes in the sky, hence the name. I just acquired an old non-working Stevens Model 15 (missing the bolt) so I'm looking for some info, maybe a manual to go with it. PDF form would suit me fine. So if anyone has access to one, I would appreciate it greatly.
