Which is harder to master?

Which takes more skill (in trigger control) a single action auto or a double action only auto?

I shoot a Para P12-45 in IDPA. Can shoot much better with it than the stock Commander I started with.

I think right now my biggest problem is trigger control. I've read that "trigger slap" is a common trait in the "untrained" like me.

DAO. There is so much more trigger stroke and subsequent time involved in the pull, it really magnifies what you do wrong. Shooting Kahrs made me a better 1911 shooter though, just because of the patience put into the pull. Now I can't shoot my 1911s worth spit, been shooting the Glock for 3 months so I get one good string in with the 45 before I develop a flinch.

I think my flinch is more of massive jerk! My sight picture is good. I really think I've got a major trigger problem. I'm sure the CCI Blazers aren't helping any either.

Have you tried dryfiring? Dryfire every single day and your problem should clear up. If it doesn't, go the the range and do some practice where you alternate a string of live fire with a string of dryfire. This has helped my shooting immensely.

Agree, DAO guns are tougher to shoot. And trigger control is almost everyone's biggest problem.

Had one new shooter show up to a match featuring a lot of steel with his DAO HK USP. Bad flinch, wouldn't want to be the dirt 7 yds in front of him. Guy with the 5 shot snubbie was beating him. One of these days

I've been praticing draw, sight alignment and pressure on trigger but not fire. (at home) I wanted to start with that and make the sear release a next step mentally. I didn't want to fire as reflex.

Don't know if this is a good idea or not.

I plan on having my son, wife or someone at the range load one mag for IDPA with one dummy or snap-cap to see how I react when I hit it.

We will see I guess.
