Beretta 21 bobcat

I was at my local store yesterday and saw a small blue Beretta box behind the counter. I asked the owner what was in it and he took it out to show me. It was the very tiny Bobcat 21. Now I realize that this isn't the premier firepower piece, but I thought it was a very sweet little pistol. I thought it would probably have some serious fn factor in it if nothing else. Anyone have any experience with these units? Let me know what you guys think about it.

They jam unless you use good quality ammo. They are horrible in the accuracy department. It's to small for my big hands. And I wouldn't trade it for anything.

The little Beretta 21 is a fun little handgun. I swear. Sometimes I can't even hit a medium sized balloon from 10 feet. But, my wife love shooting it. Its a fun little gun, and ammo is $9.00 for 500 rounds. I bought mine used for $149. I consider it a great deal inspite of the above mentioned problems. Great pocket pistol for close up work.

Mine doesn't suffer the same level of inaccuracy as the one above, but it suffers from poor sights... which, unless you concentrate can make getting the accuracy out of it, tough!

Good little gun, and alot of fun... but my Walther TPH spanks it soundly in ease of use!

I was just thinking that I should take my M21 out and shoot it again.
It is a neat little gun.
I've shot mine out to 25 yards and been able to hit a standard Bullseye pistol target out there. I mostly figure on using it within 10 feet, so usually practice emptying a magazine quickly while keeping all the shots on paper.

I used to have one in .25 caliber. It was a nice little pistol but it is on the thick side really bulged out in my pocket so when Guardians/Autaugas/ Kel-Tec P-32s started coming out, I sold it. I liked the tip-up barrel.

Very reliable with quality ammo. Accuracy is good for a 1.5" barrel with terrible sights. I use mine for mousegun practice. Also fun.

Mine likes cheapo Winchester Wildcat ammo. Accurate too.

I have one with smooth Walnut grips and glossy bluing. I love it. Reliable with CCI Stingers and other high velocity ammo. Just a fun, neat little gun.

My oldest son has an Inox in .22LR. Lots of failures initially, but after a brick or so of Remington Thunderbolts it finally smoothed out.

Lots of fun to shoot, accuracy enough to keep it interesting, but the stainless on stainless sights are a bit difficult with my eyes.

I've had a Beretta Bobcat 21 .22lr (blue) for several years. It has wood grips. I mostly use Winchester Super-X 40gr solids and sometimes Stingers. It has always gone bang. No problems. The accuracy isn't bad for a small pistol with simple sights.

A friend had one of those years ago when I was still new to guns. Before anyone told me that they were horribly inaccurate, I was reliably hitting a 1.5 foot square metal plate at about 35 yards offhand. I don't know that I could do that again, though.

He said it needed high velocity ammo and to be cleaned every 50-100 rounds or so to keep it reliable. Also, extraction of a misfire or failure to eject could be very difficult under stressful situations. Just a few things to keep in mind.

Pros: Tip-up barrel, feels very comfortable in the hand, nice trigger, cheap ammo supply, fairly accurate once you figure out the sights, good capacity for a small gun.

Cons: rather heavy and bulky for the caliber, somewhat dated design, terrible sights for an autoloader, mine tended to jam when it got hot after repeated shooting.

A great plinker but probably marginal for everyday self-defense; but hey, everyone should have at least one .22..........

I have two of them, great little pistols. Don't try aiming with the sights, they are too small to see!!! Works extremely well for me as a close range point shooting weapon. If you had to use it for self defense, aim for the nose and empty the mag. Mine have been very reliable, but like all small auto's, they need to be kept lubed.

I had one years ago & it never was reliable. Sold it in frustration. 18 months ago, I bought a Jetfire that has been absolutely reliable & fun to shoot!

I used to own one for deep CCW. I have to agree, its a neat little gun, but when it jams (FTE's and duds), its a pain to clear! It doesn't have an extractor, so you'll need to pop the barell and pry out the shell or dud cartridge. I sold mine and bought a Keltec P11. ' never looked back. But if you must have a mousegun, Walther or Phoenix Arms are better choices, IMO.

Bobcats like high speed ammo. The higher the better.
Std vel is not their cup of tea. I don't like thunderbots but it seems to be made for the BC.

They like to be clean too. Get'em to dirty and they get balky. THey don't need lots of lube however. Mine has a good trigger SA especially so.

I like mine alot and carried it a lot on fishing trips and hiking etc.
Their are thinner grips but I like the ones that are on mine as is.

When I carried it alot I had a little test I'd run.
I called it the "live or die test".

With the same ammo I had in it for say 2-3 months and lots of that time in my pocket, I'd empty the mag at a taget at 5-7 yards in the indoor range I shot at just as fast as I could pull the trigger.
It they all ran w/o jams I lived. Otherwise I figure the BG would get me.

In all my testing it only glitched one time and that was when I didn't use the tip-up but rather the slide. I think that caused the problem.
I don't remember and didn't keep count of all the times it ran like a charm but could never get over the one time it didn't. And yes its a BS test but informative to me none the less.

I still think its a fun gun and I would never get ride of mine but have had many opps to do so. Don't know if I consider it a genuine SD option but give me a BC over nothing everytime!
