Sig 245 vs. 220

I can't find a 245 right now to compare, so: is the trigger reach on the 245 any shorter? Is the grip itself smaller/better for small hands? They're both single-stack guns, so maybe not?

The 245 and the 220 have the same grip and trigger pull, but the butt on the 245 is shorter. You lose a round or two compared to the 220. ALso the slide is a bit shorter too. Makes for a more comfy carry version of the 220. However, I personally have no probs CCW a 220. For smaller hands you may opt to change the trigger on either pistol with the SIGARMS short trigger. HTH!

I have had both and sold the 245 and kept the 220.The balance seems off to me with shorter grip and the barrel.DIdn't point for me at all.Function was still very good with it.I carry the 220 and find that the full size does not bother me for concealed carry.
Of course it might not be the same for you.

Agree with Bob.

I have shot both of his and came to the same conclusion.
220 works more naturally for me.
Both great guns.
I have small hands and he has large hands yet they worked for both of us.

If I were to carry an auto again, first choice would be a 220.

While I have only held the 245 I'm not real big
on this pistol. I own a 220, 229 and 239. For
concealed carry the 239 is very hard to beat. The
220 was my first serious handgun and still one of
my favorites.

Ditto Bob & C.R.Sams posts. My friend has both pistols and the 245 just don't have the same feel as the 220. I could hit better with the 220 at any range.

The 220 is a much better feeling, easier drawing pistol than the 245.

I was kinda hoping for a 228 or 225 sized pistol when I heard they were making a compact 45. Maybe someday.

The P220. One of the finest .45's of all time.
The P245 is pretty much the same thing in a stubbier size. They are both outstanding. To chose just one? I'd have to go with the Biggie Sized. However, if I was a bit more flush with cash I'd take both and carry the 245 as a backup.

Every time I shot the 245, the gap on the frontstrap between the frame and the floorplate of the magazine consistently pinched my pinky to the point of drawing blood. Not a fun experience to say the least.

Anyone have the SIG short trigger installed on their 220? How much does it help? Can you avoid the trip to SIG to get it installed?

No comp. The P220 is a classic and the P245 is a failed attempt right up there with the SigPro series. Most gun makers makes oooppsss guns - look at Glock's 36. GT has tons of mixed reviews.

The P245 is like shooting a brick. Try some hard hitting 185 grain +P Golden Sabres and you'll buy a P220!

The P220 is a dream. The P220/P226 are my fav sized Sigs.

The P245 just really never caught on but then again why?

Sig chops the crap out of a P220 and wants bucks for it.

Four years, 15 gun shops and ranges, weekly shooting, seen a hundred P220s and only one P245. Speaks volumes.

P220 - no doubt.

I own a 220 and it is a great gun. Today I shot a 245 for the first time and I liked it. It fit my hand well and shot just as good as every other Sig I've shot. According to my wife I am just looking for an excuse to buy another gun.

When I was looking for a SIG in .45 I handled both and the 220 fit better. The short grip on the 245 did not appeal to me.

SIG 220 also comes in .38 Super Auto.

I traded in a 245 on a 220 and I'm very happy that I made the trade.
