Put a Leupold 3-9x40 on it. Using it for deer and elk, and of course, plinking. |

I picked up this poor condition 5906 police trade in a few days ago. I chose a "Poor" conditioned one just to see what sort of silk purse could be made from this sows ear without too much effort.
Here are a few BEFORE shots: Full Size Photo Full Size Photo After completely stripping, I stuck it in a bowl of full strength Simple Green and let it sit for about 12 hours. Then I scrubbed every nook and cranny with an old tooth brush, some q-tips and pipe cleaners. First, I bead blasted the frame and slide then touched up the sights with Oxpho-Blue and painted on new dots. The barrel looked to be in good shape, so I touched it up very slightly. It didn't need re-crowning or anything. I then replaced the springs and the worn out grips with new ones from Brownells. Finally I re-assembled to see what I had. There are still some dings in various spots, and a little bit of pitting on the slide. Again, the object of this project was not to restore this to NIB condition, just to see what could be done with a few hours of cleaning and very little additional outlay. I paid $235 for the pistol with one mag and around $30 for the new grips and springs. A few AFTER shots: Full Size Photo Full Size Photo Full Size Photo |

SIG P220 .45 acp was best, until I got a SIG P245 in .45, now it's a tie - these TWO are the best I ever had or shot or borrowed.......a far second would be the Beretta 92 FS....

I just bought a refurbished CZ52 form SOG. Gun was manufactured in 53 and arsenal refurbished in 76. My local gunsmith, Murphy's in Tucson, thinks that the barrel may be brand new. The arsenal also did a sort of parkerized, dark grey finish that looks great. Came with holster, spare magazine, cleaning rod. The grips really show how old it is, but it shoots fine. Big bang! Big flash!

Norinco 1911A1
It just sort of fell on me as I cruised my local gun/pawnshop. I have seen it several times, but it was faced down where I could not read the slide. It was priced so cheap I never even ask what it was till I heard the clerk tell another customer what it was.
