The Over-and-Out Electronic Muffs from Harbor Freight use AA. They have 29Db reduction and clip at, I believe, 85Db. About $35 + S&H IIRC.

Thanks guys.

The stupid foam things on my Pro Ears keep coming off and I keep losing them. The batteries keep dying probably because they keep turning on while in my pack.

they don't work for crap indoors, either.

There isn't much about them. Here's a review/ad from the Manitoba Woodworkers Guild (http://xnet.rrc.mb.ca/proctor/B23E10...Newsletter.PDF)
The ad is incorrect about battery size, it requires two AA. Here’s another ad from woodcraft.com (http://www3.woodcraft.com/Safety/woodworking/4132.htm)

It's got an LED on/off indicator, a volume control dial, and a single microphone and audio channel. It's not as nice as a pair that just dampens sound instead of clipping, works in stereo, or has an audio input, but for $35 at www.harborfrieght.com, the price is right. I think there are some threads on TFL about these.

Hope that helps
