I will be getting a CZ 75B soon. I'm tempted by the .45 (much easier to carry I'm thinking and more reliable than my Kimber) but I really like the nickle plated 9mm. Decisions, decisions...I have enough 9's.! If I could only find a nickle plated .45. Do they even make one? Now I've gotta go to their site to find out. Don't have time to read all these posts lol.

I'm back. I bought another CZ 75BD today. I really loved my first one, but it did have an unusual problem. I just didn't want to deal with the problem. It sure is nice to have another CZ in the house.

Thanks, OleCodger. Got 'em from AIM, and they're both in excellent condition.
I like the '82. It fits my hand perfectly, points naturally, and it's about as accurate and reliable as anything I've ever fired. Besides, how can you go wrong for $220.00 delivered? And, yes, if anyone hasn't read the Book of Two Guns, I recommend it in the strongest possible terms. It's much more comprehensive than the title suggests, and applies to CZs as well as 1911s. |

SleazyRider, when I saw the price you paid, I immediately went to AIM's website, saw the picture, got all excited, read the specs and then saw SOLD OUT !
You apparently lucked out. I'll be watching their website. I certainly need another pistol...I think I can rearrange the safe and squeeze one more in....may hafta take out a couple of boxes of ammo !

Hang in there, OleCodger, 'cause they're sure to get more. If not, J&G Sales has 'em, as does Centerfire Systems, et al.
I had to resort to using a Ridgid Jobsite Box for a safe. It uses 2 Master locks which cannot be accessed with bolt cutters, and it's got plenty of room for all your stuff. |

AIM just got a new batch of CZ-82s in. Get 'em while you can.
Also, for you '82 fans, I just ordered a nice holster and mag pouch on the cheap from CDNN (http://www.cdnninvestments.com/czholsters.html.) You have your choice between average condition and "like new"condition, and they're alleged to be factory originals. |

I joined the ranks of CZ owners this weekend. I found a CZ 52 in very nice (for its age) condition at a gun show at a good price. I've been wanting a 7.62x25 pistol for over a year, so I couldn't let the chance pass me by
What a predatory-looking fire breather

another CZ owner x 2
I got an SP01 Tactical a few weeks ago. It has shot everything I have fed it with no problems. Build quality seems excellent. I have a TLR1 light on it and it balances nicely. I also have a 452 Varmint in .17 hmr that I purchased a few years ago. Great guns these CZ's are.

EFK Firedragon Conversion Barrel Extraction Issue
Howdy CZ fans-
I've been enjoying shooting my 75B .40 S&W for years, and decided to investigate the EFK Firedragon 9mm conversion barrel to shoot more and spend less. Fit and finish of the barrel is top notch, accuracy is dead nuts, but I'm plagued with extraction problems. Before you jump on the the extra power Wolff extractor spring upgrade, I did that years ago and have been 100 % free of extractor problems with the .40 S&W. But now the same issue is back, but only with the 9mm barrel, but identical in nature to the common 75B extraction issue, which is when the extractor slips off the spent casing when it is 50% extracted then the slide collides with the new round trying to be stripped from the magazine. In talking with a gunsmith at CZ USA, I was told that the same extractor is used for both calibers, and contrary to several forums, an upgraded extractor was never developed. So, the only thing I may have noticed is detailed in the attached photos, which is some light peening or impact damage on the right side of the feed ramp (yeah, I know, some tooling marks are visible on the ramp, but feeding is fine so I have yet to polish those out) which might indicate that the extractor is colliding with the side of the feed ramp, preventing the extractor from a good mesh with the casing. It was more obvious before I wiped off the carbon residue from the last shooting session, but I think it is still visible. The other pics show the difference in overall feedramp width between the factory barrel and the conversion barrel. Could that be the problem, and could I simply gently ease some material from the side of the ramp ? (I'm reluctant take this up with the factory as I purchased the barrel secondhand but unfired.) Any suggestions are appreciated in advance. Love those CZ's, but I'm not used to them getting clogged up like this ! edit: I just remembered to add that the problem is most evident with WWB FMJ, much less so with Speer Gold Dots it seems. ?? |

Pyzon,
You may be looking in the wrong area. Remove the slide and slip an unfired round into the breech with the extractor claw engaging the cartridge rim. It should hold the cartridge firmly. You should be able to move the slide in any direction and the cartridge should stay put. Lightly shake the slide; does the cartridge fall out? Check this first and let us know. Then we can move on from there. |

That is sweet, CZF, now give us the details. Where'd you get those grips? Very nice gun and outstanding photographs!

Thanks, Schmeky for the help.
With a 9mm round under the extractor, if I jiggle the slide fairly weakly side to side and up and down, the round flops around and within 5 seconds falls out from under the tension of the extractor. With a .40 round, it is held much more securely and will not fall out under even vigorous shaking. But under magnification, the claw of the extractor is not fully seated in the groove of the casing, so do you suppose there has been enough rounds fired through this pistol that the extractor is worn ? I bought it used but gently so, and have fired maybe 1000 rounds in .40 and maybe 250 in 9mm. Could also be that the original (?) owner had the well documented extraction issue and worked on the extractor profile instead of replacing the spring. For sure when I installed the Wolff extra power spring the function in .40 returned to 100% normal, and the spring I removed was much shorter and weaker. What do I do next, order a new extractor from CZ ? And was I told correctly by CZ USA that a new and improved extractor was never developed or released ? By the way, the pistol dates from 2000. Thanks again. Pyzon |

Pyzon,
I would replace the extractor. Someone else could have modified it, it could be slightly sub-par from the factory, or even worn. Very good possibility this will cure the problem. Just to be on the safe side, get a new extractor retaining pin too. |

Great minds indeed do think alike, Schmeky......
I had sent CZ USA an email on February 10 regarding this issue, and it went unanswered for a week, so I then called and talked to Mike the gunsmith. He's a fine fellow for sure, and he assured me the original extractor was still unchanged after 10 years and to replace the extractor spring, no need to address the extractor. Then just today I received a reply to that original email from an apologetic fellow regarding the slow response saying that another extractor spring and new extracor was on it's way to me, with hopes that would make this annoyance go away. Kudos to CZ for customer service, albeit sorta slow, and thanks, friend, for all the helpful advice. I'll let you know what happens with the new part. By the way, I did some more searching today on CZ extraction issues and found significant opinions that WWB ammo suffered from irregularities regarding shell cases and whatever the extraction groove is called, so maybe I need to quit the cheap stuff ? Breaks my heart to shoot pricey ammo at the range, but failing to properly extract every other round is for sure a pain as well. Regards- Pyzon |

The wolff extra power extractor spring tends to fix most 75Bs with
spotty extraction. I've not had any probs from the P-01 or PCR bought last year. Here is my Birthday present on my P-01! ![]() The light/laser combo is intended for my soon to arrive P-07 DUTY but it was begging for a photo op ![]()

Tell us about the knife and sheath, Hellbore. I've never seen one with a belt clip before.

I think I bought the knife at a gun show, on a whim. The brand is Valor, says made in Japan, 440 Stainless with an aluminum handle. The edges are pretty dull for some reason but the tip is real sharp so it would work well for stabbing I guess. I took that picture years ago when I first bought the gun, and I think I just included the knife for looks. I suppose it would be a lot better than bare hands though for self-defense if the gun didn't work for some reason.

It's a copy of the Gerber Boot Knife. I used to have a Gerber, and I believe the sheath also had a clip. Don't know if they still make the Gerber. Mark I?

PO-7 Duty
Joined THR for information, read this thread... sold the Ruger P95 for a PO-7, Fits my hands better, don't have to rotate to reach controls. Would post pics, but being a poly, there isn't too much in the way of visible customization. So I'll leave it at what a joy to shoot. Now I'm looking for a satin nickel .40, and awaiting the PO-7 .40 next month.
