My good friend, who recently retired from LE, is looking into getting an armed security position in Florida.
He expects to be working about 20-25 hours per week in both indoor and outside conditions. Since he had to turn in his LE issued vest upon retirement, can anyone suggest a good bullet proof vest he can buy for under $500? If possible, please provide brand, NIJ level, etc. Thanks...

David...
Do you have any assault weapons? Saturday Night Specials? Cop killer ammo? No? None of us have any bullet proof vests, either. Some of us do have body armor, though. I bought a surplus Point Blank Level II vest about 2 1/2 years ago that appeared to use unused ($50 + shipping). A group of us tested an old Second Chance Level II a few years ago. The vest was 10 years old, and stopped everything up to .44 Mag. (Stopped the FIRST .44 round, too.) John |
