Red dot vs. scope for pistol?
Am considering enhancing my .22 magnum pistol with either a red dot or else a scope for longer distance accuracy (say in the 50-125 yd range).
Any recommendation on which is better? |

Well I can't say on that one but I've got a scope on my .44mag which is great for hunting. But as far as just plinking I'd rather have the red dot. easier to hold on target. IMO
Besides more magnification = more bouncing around to the eye. |

Red dot for pistols.
Crosshairs are a PITA for pistols. If you must use a scope, stay with 1.5-2X and run from 4Xs.

I had a 2x scope for my super redhawk. I found it almost impossible to hit anything unless it was on a rest. Even at 75yds, the open sights worked better for me. Then I put my c-more tubeless red dot on it w/ a weigland weaver rail. Wow! Anything out to 75yds thats not smaller than the dot is toast. I plan on using this setup for deer hunting this year.
