Now that I've actually managed to fire my ASM Walker I suppose that I may post here. The shots below are at 25m using 50gr of Pyrodex P, and two-handed. I'm pleased that I managed to get them on the paper, which is hopefully not a bad start given that this is my first handgun. Hopefully with a bit of practice I'll be able to manage some decent groups eventually. One handed was worse, with all shots going high.

The recoil didn't seem too bad and there was plenty of space left in the cylinder even with that amount of Pyrodex and a wad.

Hey Scrat, thanks for not removing my name. After Tony passed away and the Walker Long rifle idea fizzled out, I sold the Walker Tony gave me (as a template), and sent the $$ to his wife. The other day I had the extremely good fortune to stumble on this Uberti. Here's the pic of it and the "frog" holster I made for it. Yes I've shot it and yes it's a good shooter, dead on straight and 9 inches high at 25yds, a new front site is in the cards ASAP.

Scrat, no pic's, just a half finished project on a shelf.

Tom E Gun, the term "frog" seems to have been created for the small leather piece worn on a belt to hold a sword scabbard. pohill posted a pic of one issued with the "Savage Navy" revolver. I made mine "oragami" style, all one piece of leather (didn't have 2 pieces LOL).

Took the Walker to the range and shot if off a sandbag.

It seemed to like a 30gr load of fffg with the equiv of 27gr filler (that gets the ball right up to the end of the chamber). At least off the bag at 50m anyway, first shot hit the top line of the 1 ring between 12 and 1 oclock and i worked my way down and eventually needed to aim at the dirt about half a foot below the target to get it in the black.

25m. theres 5 there. 2 holes on the 8 line. aiming at the bottom of the black.

50m. The hole next to the number 5 is one of the 60gr loads.

Just thought some of you guys might be interested.

Here's that new front site, and a keeper for the loading lever, it drops if I use over 35g fff.....we're about to see if JB Weld is as good as it say's it is (on the site). I'll do a range report next week. By the way, when I shot it last time, someone had filled a grain bag with gravel, and left it at the quarry. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what kind of penetration the Walker had with 60g fff......it was like Moses parting the Red Sea, slug went in one side and out the other, this is one powerful revolver !!!!

Range Report.
I shot 40g fff w/ a lubed patch and 454rb at 25yds, 2 handed/off hand, till the cylinder wouldn't hardly rotate and the accuracy was fading from all the fouling build up.

Here's my latest and Greatest - Colt Second Generation, serial 32309. Only 245 were made in 1981. Funny.....I didn't realise that the muzzle was a clean cut with no chamfering. I also can't figure out why #11 caps won't fit on the nipples! They're CCI..........

The case is custom-made oak by Bill Shumate. Almost identical to the only known original.

Cheers,

Bill

I should add that only 245 were made with the COLTS PATENT on the receiver. None of the other Walkers have that. Never been fired (yet), but the cylinder has been turned. I have two Eley cap tins. One has the remains of a label with caps inside, marked ELEY BROs LONDON. All the serial and assembly numbers are in place on the pistol, including on the inside of the grips (both in pencil and stamped). You won't see Colt making Walkers in the near future, I'm sure...........

Cheers,

Bill

I shot mine Saturday, see video on another thread. Anyway, after shooting at the water bottles I had three rounds left, so I put the camera on a gopher mound about 100 yards away, then took the three shots at it. Never hit it, but I made it duck!

Where's the video you ask? Sadly, I had the camera on the WRONG gopher mound. Like they say, some days are diamonds, some days are coal.
