Thanks man! I felt left out because I wear my holster and practice my quick draw whenever it's western movie time.

Cheapo Walker Holster
If you're like me, yer $$ goes into guns and supplies with little left over for fancy leather....soooooooooo, here's how to "stretch" your $$. I took a Cabelas cavalry flap holster, carefully cut the the plug out of the bottom, saving the stitching, put alcohol over the entire holster, like stretching a shoe and forced er' in !!! Takes some manipulating to make a loose enough fit but it works good. The extra leather draped around the holster is for tying it to my saddle on a day trip.

That is a cool shot. Imagine all of that smoke if you were indoors shooting.

count me in
I had a 1st model Dragoon, been looking for a Walker for some time. I found a display model at Cabela's outside Salt Lake City in June, bought it and had it shipped home. Mrs. Santa transferred title on the 25th, so I'm ready to play with it. I have a Kirst cylinder for both the Dragoon and the Walker.....

My Walker
OK, here's my Walker. This was a Uberti kit I bought about 25 years ago. I've tinkered with it on and off but last March I decided to finish it. Took me a while to find someone to colour case harden the frame and loading lever but they did a nice job. The bluing was done by me. I've tried charcoal bluing, as in the original but could never get a consistent colour so I opted for hot salts bluing.
The case was also Uberti - bought at he same time. However, I've re-lined it with a more original looking green baize. Will I ever shoot it? One day. Cheers, Whitesongs |

My Walker
I've wanted a Colt 2nd Generation Walker for years but being based in the UK they rarely come up for sale - and getting one imported is asking for trouble with UK border control in this day and age of hand gun control.
So, for the time being the Uberti will have to do. I'm not entirely happy with the grip shape - compared with an original - so I've just ordered a replacement backstrap from Dixie Gunworks to tinker with. I'll copy a photo of an original to actual size then try making a template. The heel of an original appears more rounded and the whole grip profile not as narrow as the Uberti. I'll post again if I'm successful with it. Cheers, Whitesongs |

This American Historical Foundation advertisement, in the May 1990 American Rifleman, is for a limited edition Samuel Colt Golden Tribute Model 1847 Walker Commemorative revolver. I thought this would be interesting, although almost 22 years old, information for the THR Walker Club.

That is one sexy gun!
Although being all fancy and gold, it still only has the standard factory wood grips... i thought some ebony or ivory would be a better option? |

A while back I had a post about a new ASM Walker that I bought and I was not going to shoot it but I couldn't resist.
I can only get about 5-6 shots out of it before the cylinder binds up to the point that it will not rotate. Anyone else have this problem with the Walker Design?? I am loading 30 grains of Goex FFFG... fill with corn-meal and ram in a .457 ball. If I take the cylinder off and clean the cylinder pin (Arbor) I am good for a few more shots then it binds up again. Here is a Picture taken at the range. ![]() Here is the gun taken apart, notice the black goo on the cylinder pin..this is what causes the problem:

I wonder if a good copper anti-seize lubricant would help.
The high temperature rating for the Permatex brand is 1800 degrees F.. Plus it comes in a brush top bottle. http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...ubricant_b.htm Shopping results for 16 ozs. of the Permatex brand: http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CGYQ8wIwAA Switching to a substitute powder along with using an anti-sieze may help as a last resort.

I got 20 shots out of mine before she stops. and pull it apart before it cools down! lol found that out...
I've noticed that if i load it on a press rather that the lever on the gun i can get more shots out of it. |
