The Gentleman who's Username on this site is 'Bigbadgun' made this holster for me.
He does good work and at a very reasonable price.
He dosen't do it for a living so to speak and is therefore not interested in charging high prices. He simply enjoy's working with leather and has good skills at doing so.
He will ship it right to your front door in a timely fashion.
Plus I think he enjoy's helping out fellow members of the 'family'.
Blackpowder shooters have a thread running between them that sort of bind's them together. They may look different, and come from different walk's of life, but on the bottom line they're all in the same boat. We all have a common love and we also all have a common enemy out there who labor's 24/7/365 to deprive us of this love. That we must never forget.
Cabela's sell's a tough and durable holster made specifically for the Walker. It's the one pictured on a couple of my posts on this particular thread.
I'm sure many other companies also sell them....

Mec, this last photograph you posted. The one with your gun hand showing. I notice through the smoke that the lever is falling. What size charge were you firing right there? Does your lever fall often?
I haven't had that problem yet but I have never fired a full 60 grains yet. I did try out 58 grains a few days ago. It shot it good.
Did the lever start falling on you from day one, or maybe the clip became worn over time?
I'm thinking about getting a gunsmith to braze a small spring loaded catch on mine. I guess the same thing as on one of the Dragoons.
I was just wondering. I know you're probably real busy and all but maybe sometime you can answer....

day one mine has always dropped i load mine 55 grains.

Well I'ne done it, my local gun shop HAD a used Uberti WALKER for sale at a very attractive price and it now rests with my 1851 Navy, 3rd Dragoon and 1860 Army. Reading the comments on this site convinced me that I had to have one of these WALKERS. I will not be able to smoke mine for a couple of weeks until I get back from a trip. There is something about the WALKER that other handguns just don't have, so sign me up for the WALKER CLUB.

Scrat, good morning again.
Well, I guess I just got real damn lucky. Mine hasn't fallen yet although of course that dosen't mean it won't the very next time I squeeze one off. Bigbadgun also maintain's that his lever has never fallen.
55 grains is a heavy load. I only fire Triple Seven 3f (3fff) and I have never fired a .454 ball in my life but I have shot my fair share of .457's.
I was just wondering about it Scrat.
I also read on here by someone who swear's that he shoot's 60 grains about all the time and his lever has never fallen.--Note. A Walker dosen't even start to come into it's own and do what it was made to do until it crosses over that 100 yard line....

Scrat like G of the C said I have never had mine fall I shoot 50 grain with a wad and topped off with a .454 round ball. All day long but I must say you never know it may fall with the very next shot.

fineredmist, WELCOME ABOARD.
You'll enjoy it from day one but it's going to take you months and months if you plan on learning how to shoot it so don't get discouraged and just keep it around for noise and smoke. (unless that's what you bought it for to start with)
If you learn how to shoot it (it took me well over a year along with fits of anger, a right thumb worn as raw as a piece of hamburger meat, disgust, and sometimes maybe a couple of tears of total frustration, and I'm still learning) you will find out for yourself that the .44 Colt Walker will perform wonders to behold. It's big and heavy and ugly, but that sonofa***** will carry the mail. Keep it clean, keep it blued up nice, (if you like blued tools) and take good care of it. Have yourself a good day....

Ive done quite a bit of shooting with this one and a Uberti Walker Kit. Regardless of charge, The lever never fails to fall. I am not sure, but it seems like the kit walker owner has shot some squib loads with american Pioneer that didn't drop the lever . I do recall that AM Pioneer is a very puny substitute. To save the spring/catch, I generally use a rubber band, tape or a small cord to tie it up.

I am happy enough that it stays up when the gun is NOT being fired as I have seen an original or more likely, faked- up older replica that will not even do this. I have a levered paterson uberti that will drop the lever with full charges too.

Mine used to drop the lever every time with any load above 40gr. After about ten minutes with a file it no longer drops even with 60gr charges.

Dont own one yet but have looked at them. Just thought I'd throw this out there. Yesterday on PBS I caught the very end of a conversation they were having on the Antiques Road show on various original Walkers (125, 150k each). I think this was the first of two shows from Houston TX made on last yrs tour.
Sometimes they repeat these shows through the month so you guys might want to try and catch the first episode and check out the models they were showing. Even talked abt the lever falling, etc. The Colt like the one shown by hildo was presented and I think it was one of the $150,000 pistols but original.
