The Sheer Joy of MOUSE GUNS....

Okay, so they're not going to stop a charging rhino. So no one has hi-capacity magazines for them nor do they make scopes for them. Still, no one's handgun collection would be complete without at least one or two mouse guns. Or maybe three or four.

But what is it about them that makes them so desirable? Is it part of our childhood's craving of toys? Do these tiny revolvers and autoloaders remind us of the little pistols our mothers or fathers bought us? Or is it our desire to see everything miniaturized? Kind of like those highly detailed cars that sport doors that open and lights that flash? Or is it our fascination with "modern marvels"? (Isn't there a model of a Colt single-action revolver that shoots real bullets, though miniaturized?)

Actually, I know of one person who collects nothing but tiny guns. He calls it his "sniz" collection, sniz standing for "Saturday Night Special."

How many mouse guns do YOU have, and why do you have them? And do you trust them to do what their supposed to do? I've seen many news reports in my day of people successfully using them to stop bad guys, and a surprising number of little .25 autos have actually killed them...the bad guys that is. The whole idea behind them is, no one likes to be shot! And I've talked to people who have been shot with .22LRs. One was working on his house and got hit from behind. The guy who fired the bullet was at a range close to a mile away. It did a surprising amount of damage.

According to experts, they shouldn't be useful for much except as conversation pieces. What do YOU say? And where are your pictures?

I like mouse guns too. I have an
Astra Cub .25, KT P-32 and P-3AT. I carry the 3AT as a BUG, but the Cub is just a range toy. It's also a great gun for introducing people to shooting. No one finds it intimidating to shoot.

I'd like to add a nice Beretta 950 to the collection soon.

Well, you have to define your terms. What is a mouse gun? Is the category determined by caliber? Where do you draw the line? Or is it determined by size?

Do you have to be able to actually hit a mouse with the gun, and if you do, must you register one shot kills?
Is it considered bad form to shoot a rat with a mouse gun? How 'bout unruly kids?

My friend George likes to carry a dead mouse in his pocket. Would it be just as socially acceptable for him to carry a mouse gun in his pocket?

I don't have any mouse guns at this time, but would like a Seecamp, if for no other reason than the jewel-like craftsmanship.

Several

I'm a bit of a mouser myself.

Keltec P32
Keltec P3AT
NAA Black Widow
NAA MiniMaster
American Arms Escort .380
Llama Model 3 .380 (4)
Star SS .380 (2)
FI Model D

Looking for an Astra Cub.
for me I think it's the miniaturization. My favorites are those Llama .380s. Mine are all from the 1940s, and are an almost-perfect 3/4 scale 1911A1.

Did someone say MOUSE GUN?!

ok...ok...so it's not a mouse. Does squirrel gun count?

Also if you look at Mickey's gun notice the cylinder, has there ever been a mouse gun made like that?!

I think what I like best about a mouse gun, especially like my Astra Cub, is how well the older European guns were made. A lot of craftsmanship went into many of these miniature semi-autos, probably enough so that if the GCA '68 didn't stop their importation, their production costs eventually would have. Definitely a lot of fun with a little mouse gun.

hmmmm...
There seems to be some disconnect in what our members consider Mouse Guns.
To me a mouse gun is not chambered in anything larger than .32, and the gun itself has to be small.

With those parameters, I own two:

Here are mine. Since the LCP is basically the same size as the P32 I would consider it a mouse gun even if it is a .380.

Does a PA-63/CZ-82/PM Makarov count as a mouse gun? Not exactly palm sized for the average person, but some palms are bigger than others.

Does anyone have a Davis P-32? I have one that's never been shot and wondered if it was as reliable as the Raven, on which it's based.

Love the photos. Keep 'em comin'.

This little Sterling was a gun I tried multiple times. Never could find one that worked in .22LR or .25ACP. They could have been nice lil' pistols if someone could have found a way to make them go bang.
