Favorite gun shops in Ohio
Someone else asked about shops in Indiana and I thought perhaps my fellow Buckeyes might want to chime in on their favorites. As I love to hit mom and pop operation gun shops I thought we could talk about some good gun shops in Ohio that our fellow Buckeyes can go visit.
So tell us about what shop you like and where it is. Also let us know if they have a nice large selection. There are three nice little shops in SW Ohio I hit on a fairly regular basis. None are too big but do have a nice selection. WB Hickock's 8990 US 22/3 outside Clarksville Ohio is a nice shop run by my friend Marty DuKorn, 937-289 3919 IN THE TEN RANGE on state Route 68 is in Xenia, Ohio. Rick Reynolds runs this one. He is a good guy. (937) 374-0649 Clubb House Arms on 3/22 in Morrow Ohio is run by my pal John Clubb. You can reach them at 513-899-9231 Springboro Shooters Supply, Inc 355 South Main St., Springboro Ohio 45066: 937-748-1771. Run by Ralph Bryant. So tell us about your favorite gun shops.

There are only two that I actually like.
Dick's Gun Room in Cuyahoga Falls - Expensive, but a first rate selection of high end long guns (such as Remington 40X target rifles and trap guns), new and collectible handguns, accessories, books, reloading supplies, and clothing. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. Pro Arms in Cuyahoga Falls - An EXCELLENT selection of new and collectible handguns as well as military and police type long guns. They stock Dillon products, especially caliber conversions for 550s and 650s. I haven't been there since they had a fire and moved to a nearby locaton. They used to be Pro Gun and Sport. Employees are knowledgeable and friendly. The shops in the Cleveland area are unremarkable, and usually have poor selections along with high prices. I won't shoot at their range because I consider it dangerously unsupervised, but Stonewall near I77 and Rt82 has an excellent selection of holsters. Their selection of new handguns is usually decent.

Vince Amann operates Sugarcreek Pro Gun at 15 South Main Street, Bellbrook, southeast of Dayton (937-848-2318).
I've made WAY too many contributions to Vince's retirement fund over the past 18 months for my own good but he always seems to have interesting things on hand that empty my wallet faster than a thirsty vampire at a blood drive. I'm a very pale person. Seriously, he offers good hardware at competitive prices and has ways of finding screwball stuff. Now you know!

Def4pos8, thanks for posting that. I omitted Vince and should have mentioned him too as it is a neat shop with interesting things.
He donated ammo for our youth shooting sports program at CCFSA last year. http://www.ccfsa.com/ So he is a really good guy dedicated to promoting the shooting sports. |

CypherNinja, have you tried Sherwin's Shooting Sports on Vine Street in Eastlake? The've got a pretty good indoor range, well supervised. There are stores with more inventory, but the staff is personable and capable.
For a larger retail selection (but no range at the Mentor store), try B and T. Again, the people are friendly and helpful. I bought both my handguns (Heritage Rough Rider .22 convertible and Taurus 85-3) there.

Vances Shooters Supply in Columbus, Cleveland Ave.
Not the best part of town, but I doubt there is much crime at Vances ![]() They have good prices IMO. Some guns run a little high, but there are sales. Most of the time, I watch their catalog and things can be had for similar cost to on-line (No FFL). Very good service and trained staff. |

One Shot in Newtown Ohio. It's a suburb of Cincinnati, www.oneshotonline.com
The people that work there are awesome, and their pistol prices are very very very reasonable.

Gochinsky's Fin, Feather, and Fur, in Ashland, Ohio. http://www.finfeatherfuroutfitters.com/
Great prices on guns (they make the money on accessories), good service, and a great selection of everything hunting, fishing, campting, and reloading.

Great Store.

Norton's, in Waldo off of US23 and 229
Aumiller's, in Westerville, off of State St. in the basement Powder Room, in Powell, indoor range. Black Wing, in Delaware, very nice, newer facility, indoor & outdoor ranges New Albany Shooting Range, New Albany, nicer newer facility, prices are high. Lauhorner's in Springfield- nice range, not much else. On Target, Mansfield Ohio Valley Outdoors, Lancaster, pricey. Not much selection. Vance's/BUckeye Outdoors- best prices on guns I've seen anywhere off the internet. Somehow I can drive near the area without stopping and contributing to the Vance Family Retirement Plan. Crappy neighborhood but a CCW makes all well.

Vance's in Columbus : I buy a lot of guns from them. They have a great selection, good prices, cool police trades, a 45-day layaway plan, and you get 30 day shop warranty on used guns.
The only downside to Vance's? It's so popular that several times now I've had guns I was wanting to buy sold to someone else while waiting for my number to be called! Norton's Waldo/Delaware : I always find something there when I stop in on my way to the shooting range. Great bunch of guys there. They also have a good layaway policy. I bought a gun from each shop just last week. Jack |

Another vote for B&T Shooting Supply, Mentor Store.
Courteous friendly guys with a great deal of knowledge. Haven't visited the other B&T locations

I like Shooters' Supply in Loveland (suburb NE of Cincinnati). They charge $30 for a transfer but won't accept from a non-FFL. On new guns, they can pretty much match or beat what you can find on-line.
Also Costello's Gun Shop in North College Hill (northern neighborhood of Cincinnati). It is small and carries an economical line of merchandise. Has the best transfer price ($25) for used guns in the area and will accept shipment from a non-FFL. Target World has a great selection of guns and accessories -- and an indoor range -- but prices are high in my opinion (for both guns and range time). One Shot in Newtown (east of Cincy) has already been mentioned.

I buy a lot at Vance's and (usually at) Buckeye Outdoors too.
I first went to Buckeye outdoors back in 1998 when I was preparing for Y2K. I remember going through the checkout once with 500 rounds of 9mm and nobody gave me as much as a suspicious look. Over the course of a year, 1998 - end of 1999, I bought a LOT of ammo and several firearms from them. Their prices on firearms are about average, but they often have special deals and I got my police trade-in Beretta 92FS there. That's where I bought my new CZ-75B too. Been bummed though the last few times I've been there, 5.56/.223 has been a bit scarce. There used be a great little place at Buckeye Lake which had a lot of good surplus firearms for good prices but alas the owner died of a heart attack and the store is no more. I bought two AK's there and a good deal of surplus 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, and 9mm there.
