My 1986 vintage DA/SA S&W Semi-auto is very consistent. On the first shot the trigger pull is always stiff and on all subsequenst shots the trigger pull is very light. Does yours not do that?

FNG read all 52 pages... I think I could use some eye drops.

I'll only comment on what I've shot.

Glock: Believe it's a good gun, just doesn't fit my hand.
Ruger SR9: Felt cheap.
EAA Bounty Hunter: Skip the glasses and get face shield, this thing spits.
FEG PA-63: Too many issues to list.
Ruger LCP: How far do I have to pull the damn trigger for it to go bang?

***
XDm: Like this gun. My brother has 5K rounds through his without issue.
Astra A100: Only 700ish rounds but ZERO failures.
10/22: Found what it likes to eat, quiet reliable
500A: My zombie gun. It works.
Taurus 608: Not shot a lot, but no issues.

Another Kimber. Because the one I own now is perfect and I don't need another 45acp.

All joking aside, I don't see myself ever buying a single shot pistol. Unless I'm going to handgun hunt in a "shotgun/handgun" only zone with a handgun, plus I doubt I could shoot one any better than my bolt action rifle.

No gun made out of plastic (Glock, "M&P", etc. Plastic is just wrong. And I have shot a Glock. Did not like it, wierd trigger and the triggerguard hit my knuckle rather uncomfortably). No guns "on the AR-15 'platform'" :P Besides, my neighborhood is not terrorized by gangs of vicious poodles.

Nothing "tacticool". Black, plastic, aluminum, or with "accessory rails".

No Hi Point, Jennings, etc. No Taurus, for that matter. No 9mm's. And absolutely no gun made in China. Of course, there are guns chambered in any number of oddball calibers that I have zero use for (and many of them I wonder if anyone really has a use for!).

And I do have a couple of MIM S&W revolvers (de-locked!), but would never buy another. The lock is, well, you know what it is, and MIM is just cheesy.

Anything Remington younger than 30 yrs. old. Plus their ammo sux. They havent built a decent rimfire since the late sixties, [the Viper, 597, and the mod. 504 are but a few examples]
Ruger
Taurus
Rossi
S & W semis... [ with the exception of mod. 41]
Paras
Newer Kimber handguns....questionable reliability and piss-poor QC/ FF for the $$$

Wow, the diversity of opinion is truly something to appreciate. This thread is certainly proof of that. While I can respect any opinion arrived at through experience and logic, its the one's claiming a particular brand or make is "worthless" or "junk" without providing proper evidence to expound on how the opinion was arrived at that I take issue with.

I believe there are certainly lemons from most any manufacturer floating around out there. I also believe that to obtain a well made firearm one often needs to part with a good deal of money. That being said, very well made and high quality arms can be obtained in the $300 dollar range, however, you get what you pay for in many instances.

As for the long running glock debate (this certainly isn't the first time glocks have been thrown under the train)…i say if someone can use one reliably and comfortably, then go for it, even though I myself have little use for them. They seem to work great for some, and horribly for others. I think glock has been beaten at their own game by some of the other polymer, striker fired pistols out there, just my opinion though.

I'm a born and bred 1911 and large frame revolver guy, that's what I was raised on, and that's what I'll always go back to. Very, very interesting topic of discussion.

I don't know that I could say right now that I would never buy a certain gun or certain brand. There are horror stories about every brand of gun on the internet. Until I personally have a bad experience I can't say I won't buy a gun that I find a good deal on.
I also can't speak to my future interests. Just because I don't benchrest or varmint hunt right now doesn't mean I won't ever take it up later.

I've become somewhat of a black hole for guns. Once they get within my gravitational pull, they're sucked into the vault forever.

Items I will not buy
A 1911 where I pay over 1200$ (unless some antique), I may build a race gun in 38 super for fun but parts should come in well under that
A smokeless muzzleloader
A matchlock, doubt I will even own a wheelock
Any rifle esp a 'black gun' that can't hold 1 MOA, frankly that is generous. Anything that I that I have that cant shoot holes that touch is usually sold (rifles).(100 yards, 50 for 22lr) I do have an old winchester 30/30 trapper model that holds about a 3" 5 shot group at 100/open sights. I have some history with that gun and will never sell.
