Help! Need honest advice.
Brand new to forum as of today. Been down for a couple of years from a motorcycle wreck and just now am going to get back into reloading. Regardless, I've forgotten the meager knowledge that I had with my Hornady single stage. I bought a Lee pro 1000 with all the fixins' before the wreck and now I think I want to get a Dillon. Is there a place that I can trade everything for a 550 or should I list it on some marketplace? I want to get into cowboy shooting using a .38 cal and I also shoot .45acp. Also, can I use my hornady titanium dies with other brands? Thanks to all who dare help a bungling 62 yr. old neophyte. schmally

There is a forum for selling items here at THR you could try that. You could also try selling them on E Bay but not sure on the process. You might want to think twice on selling a single stage press though they do come in handy. all reloading die have the same thread 7/8-14 so you can use them in a Dillon 550. The only exceptions I can think of off hand are the Dillon Square Deal and the Lyman 310 tong tool. You might be able to find a used 550 in your local swap paper or E Bay as well.

schmally, welcome. You might also consider www.craigslist.org
You would be able to sell your Lee setup there locally and not have to worry about shipping, etc. |

A sad fact of life is that Lee equipment has low resale value. In my case money/cash is always an issue, so I'd rather use it than sell/trade it because you will probably not get much for it anyway. Or perhaps you can call the LEE factory and get them to trade a Loadmaster for it. The Loadmaster is a decent progressive and good value for the money.
I had a Pro1000 with .45acp dies 20 years ago and loaded many thousands of rounds with it. Then came a Hornady Projector and lastly a 550B which I still use. Also have a Lee Loadmaster that needs to be set-up but I forsee no problems because there is an excellent tutorial in the Loadmaster Forum and a few more good videos in Youtube. http://loadmastervideos.com/ The Pro1000 served its purpose albeit there is a learning curve to using it. Check out this link. The key in getting the Pro1000 to work well is patience and attention to detail, which are two virtues that you need in reloading anyway. If and when you get a 550B, the habits you acquire working with the Pro1000 will serve you well. http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/ammo-ca...al-sticky.html |

And yes, all your Lee, Hornady, and Dillon dies will interchange between the 3 presses. So don't sell your dies either.

down for a couple of YEARS? yikes.
Glad you are on the mend now. If you are going to be selling,I'd list it here, in the classifieds section. It is likely to get flagged off of Craigslist.ANYTHING remotely connected to a firearm is flagged fast there. ![]() Have you actually set it up and tried it yet? if not,you might be surprised. I love my Dillon, but contrary to popular opinon, they aint perfect either. lol Welcome back to reloaiding, and life in general.
