Does anyone know, or have resent experience with bringing guns into the US after 9/11?
It used to be easy, and I have done so in the past. Someone I spoke to were trying to go to a 3-gun in Las Vegas last year. When applying for a permit to bring in the guns, they got NO to Benelli M1 NO to AR-15, even in post ban configuration YES to pistols, but they couldn't bring any mags! (Like a one-shot pistol is going to help you win a 3-gun!) Has any of this changed resently? I have an urge to go to the US again soon. Shoot some matches, shoot some 3-guns, and possibly attend Gunsite/Thunder Ranch etc.

Here is the scoop:
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/form6updatesfaqs.htm
lists FAQ’s for non-resident aliens importing firearms (temporarily) into the U. S. Prohibited are any weapons or devices (magazines) that falls afoul of President Clinton’s Crime Bill. In a word, no. The regulations have not changed.
