Avatars, can we use them?

I see avatar's are currently disabled. Any plans to enable them?

I kind of like it without any. I keeps a nice clean look to the place.

Lots of avatars just slow the page loading for those on slower hookups (I say this from my super-fast connection though). I kind of prefer we not have them.

Too distracting, too much bandwidth load. Little to no value added.

Agree w/not having avatars - as 762x51 pointed out, the "clean" look to THR is very appealing.

There is an option under each user's profile that allows him to show or hide avatars and images, so the bandwidth and cluttering concerns can be addressed. Personally, I like them.

Here's what I use on other sites:
