Two needle saddle stiching with waxed linen thread.

An IWB copied from a Sparks Summer Special

My favorite - and daily carry - holster

A metal re-inforced Training Holster and matching Mag Pouch

A Thad Rybka Design in Brown Saddle Leather

An Inside-the-belt Slide for a Glock 17/19/26

The next one is a SOB for a 1911

The last one is a "Driving Holster" for use in the car.

Great thread guys. Keep up the good work on them holsters. My first few holsters made great chew toys for the dog. Check out the holster section of www.leatherworker.net
There's quite a few hobby and professional holster makers hanging out there and all are willing to help. Now get busy and build more holsters!!!!

Here's my very first attempt at holster making. I didn't really have the right tools for the job at the time and I pretty much freehanded the whole thing which was a mistake. The stitch lines were too tight to the gun and it could have been cut and molded better. Beginner's mistakes. It ain't pretty but it's functional.

Anyone have any nice 1911 patterns or any pics of pocket holsters they've made? My next project is going to be a pocket holster for an LCP and then I'll probably make an IWB design for the 1911 similar to the VM2 style.

That's a good idea to put the snaps on the end of the belt loops to make them removable. I'm thinking of going with the belt loops on either side of the pistol instead of on the pistol to keep it as thin as possible for iwb. Although something similar to yours would be handy...kinda like the summer special style. My next owb one will probably be an askins style one since I haven't made anything like that yet.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I like that button idea to keep the safety from clicking off. I've been molding the safety in just as a precaution but the button idea seems like it would work well.

I do both. I locate the button by molding the safety in, then stitch the button so as to force the safety lock into the "on" position should the gun be holstered with the safety lock in the "off" position.

I don't have any pics of the holsters I have been making on my home PC. I will post some tomorrow. I plan on debuting them at the NRA convention this spring. I have been wanting to show you guys for a while. My stuff is comparable to the best in the business. Only with out the wait.

Nice lookin stuff there Scott. I'm going to make something like that LCP one except I'm thinking about adding a sort of rectangular back flap on it to make it look like a wallet in the pocket.

That IWB is the exact thing I'm looking to make for 1911 IWB carry. Non-tuckable with the reinforcement strip and a bit of a cant to it. Good stuff! What are you stitching with?

Thanks Atom.

I have a wallet panel that snaps on the LCP and similar holsters. That way you can use it as a front or back pocket. Just didn't have one at home.

I am using a industrial machine(Pfaff) to stitch. Right now I can make about 25 holsters per day. I have more equipment coming that will increase that to about 60 shortly.

Here is a pocket holster I made for a Ruger LCP. The back is removable and it's only molded on one side. Kind of quick and dirty but that's ok. I did it rough side out but I don't think I'll bother doing that anymore.

I realize this is an old thread but my post still applies to the original question (and I didn't think I needed to start a new thread).

I've worked with kydex before and plan to do so in the future, but I had an old plastic picture frame sitting round and started applying heat with a heat gun to see if I could mold it similar to kydex. It worked and I realized that my Dad needed a holster for his Glock 17. I've got a Glock 22 so I knew it would be the same size. It looks goofy, but it works.
