There are 10 files with RRv93x74r.exe being the executable file (launch this file after downloading all the files in the Reloaders_ Reference/9.3x74r - Final folders).

Reloaders Reference v9.3x74r

This will be the final release for the foreseeable future. I have added every available source of data, all the calculations I could find, and any other requested add-ins. I have asked for suggestions and ideas, and gotten little or no feedback, meanwhile the downloads here are hitting between 20 and 50 per day. Quite frankly, burnout has taken its toll. The package is now split into Manuals, Targets, and the main program to make downloading the pieces ala carte simple.

As always, this program is free and is to remain that way. Any redistribution of this program must be at NO COST. Commercial use of this software without the express written consent of the author is forbidden.

Windows Vista Notes:

I have recieved some messages from users having trouble running this package on Vista. Vista's default security settings will not allow users to change files in the \program files path. This is what creates the problems. 1 be patient with the install, it is slow, but will complete even on vista. 2. follow the instructions below to change the permissions on the Reloaders Reference folder

to allow user writes to the files.

1.) Open c:\program files and right click the Reloaders Reference folder.

Note: on x64 systems this will be the Program Files (x86) folder.

2.) Choose properties from the drop down menu.

3.) On the properties tab, choose security.

4.) On the security tab, click the advanced button at the bottom of the tab.

5.) In the advanced tab, click users in the list, then edit.

6.) In the permissions dialog, click the Allow box on the top line (Full Control) then click ok.

7.) When it returns to the Advanced tab, check the replace all existing box at the bottom of the tab and click ok.

8.) Click ok again to return to the security screen.

9.) Click users in the top window and look at the permissions in the bottom portion, full control should now be checked.

10.) Click ok to close the security dialog.

RR should now run without the read-only or linking problems.

Windows 7 Notes:

1.) Open c:\program files and right click the Reloaders Reference folder.

4.) On the security tab, left click to highlight "users" under the "Group or user's names".

5.) Below the "Group or user's names" box you will see, "To change permissions, click EDIT". Left click the edit button.

6.) That will open another dialog box, "Permissions for Reloader's Reference". Again left click to highlight "users" in the "Group or user's names" box.

7.) Below that box, you will see another, "Permissions for Users". Click the "full control" allow button. It will automatically check all the boxes except "Special Permissions". Leave that box unchecked.

8.) Click the "Apply" button in the bottom left hand corner.

9.) Click "Okay" and the "Permissions for Reloaders Reference" dialog box will close.

10.) Click "Okay" at the bottom of the "Reloaders Reference Properties" dialog box.

StretchNM, you should get a popup window saying, "You have chosen to open RR-ReadMe-1st.txt ... Would you like to save this file?" If you don't see this popup window, check your browser popup/security settings. You can also go to the author's home page and download from there.

I have managed to download most of it. I am waiting for the last file but download speed has slowed to 5kbps instead of the 90 or so it was running at earlier. 9 more hours to go at this rate.

tabealer, they are very large files and I have a feeling that since this thread got posted, many people are downloading at the same time, slowing the download speed for all from the source server.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but it seems to me the subject data program is simply a compilation of whatever someone wants to feed the data server.

In the initial post, BDS made the following quote: "This project is designed to compile the data and calculations needed for metallic cartridge and shot shell reloading. All data comes from documented sources." Then he goes on at some length seemingly to explain how folks can "share" their load data for just about anything. Other than the initial quote noted above, there is no information concerning "documented sources." I have to ask by whom the source material is documented? May I simply post a bunch of my favorite loadings for anyone to try? I certainly would not consider any personal data I may contribute to be considered a "documented source."

While the internet has accomplished may great things, this whole "reference data" idea seems to be characteristic of the problems with the internet. Different folks can post anything on the internet without any consideration for truth and/or accuracy of same, and it also seems that so many folks today accept whatever they see on the internet with the old idea that "if you read it in the newspaper it has to be true."

While I do not subscribe to the idea that anything printed is necessarily true, I do tend to place more credence to load data and related information that is printed in old established manuals such as Lyman, Hornady, and others. To my old fashioned way of thinking, this whole project seems to be someone's "gee whiz" idea of reprinting a lot of various information already available (various PDF files and printable trgets), it gets posted, the bandwagon starts rolling, and soon it is the latest rage with many folks attributing credence to it that it simply does not warrant.

Version 9.3x74, which I downloaded and installed, did not contain any viruses or other malicious components. I installed the program with "I have MS access program" option, as I have the Access. It runs fine.

Load data in the program are listed with the source name, and can be verified there.

i'm not saying it's corrupted...i'm just saying as a matter of principle i don't d/l executables. I have lots of pdf's on downloading- that's what i prefer when it comes to reading. Especially magazines like American Handgunner and Handloader- those pdf's are interactive.

Maybe we can work on a pdf version for THR pistol reloaders - I can transfer the pistol/lead data table and get a permission from the author to do a pdf conversion for non-MS users like linux/Mac/BSD.

Yes, there are reloaders out there that use other OS' than windoze.

In this case, writing the executable in python or perl or some other cross-platform language would have been a better choice (both python and perl run on all known OS')

nalioth, yes I agree, but some people simply don't want to run any executables.

Since converting the entire reference into pdf would be a daunting task, I thought a smaller common pistol caliber pdf may be of interest. I haven't gotten a reply from the author yet.

BTW, I run 4 OS's and recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 and really liking it.

Converting to PDF does not make too much sense. The program has a lot of components beside just load data, which require enormous efforts to do in PDF, or just not doable, like inventory control.

The program is actually a set of MS access MDB files. While MDB files can be opened on other OSes and even without MSOffice (say, with the OpenOffice), the distributed MDBs use scripting language, which us usually unportable outside MS**t.

So whenever someone asks, "Does anyone have the load data for XXXgr bullet in XXX caliber for XXX powder?" we can link to the pdf file.

Won't that be a great gift to a new reloader from THR?

Then it is easy.

0. You need to have the RR and MS Access installed. The instructions are for Access 2007, not sure if the same it works for other versions.
1. Open the RR file "C:\Program Files\Reloaders Reference\rrv9.mdb" in maintenance mode. To do this, select the file, then hold "SHIFT" key, then double click on the file. MS access will show you see table list in the database.
2. Right-click on a table with the load data. I see couple of such tables: tblLoadData, tblCastBullets, SurplusPowderLoaddata, and ShotGunData. In the appearing pop-up menu select "Export"and the desired format: PDF, HTML, TXT or something else.
3. Enjoy the generated ~1000 pages PDF file (or another selected format) of the multi-meg. Lines from the the exported tables can be used as a reference data. Attached is a screenshot of two collating pages from the PDF. The screenshot was scaled down 50% to reduce file size.

Dang, that's what I anticipated ... and was looking to do only the popular pistol calibers (380, 38 Spl, 357, 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, 44 Spl, 44 Mag, etc.).

No issues downloading--at a solid 400+ Kb / sec. off my dsl / hardwired home network. extracted uneventfully to a subdir of my choice.

I have the Beta 2010 Access--we'll see what happens now.

OK, access choked working with my non-standard location. I extracted it again, this time to the default subdir. Appears to work fine.

Can anybody please tell me if there is load data fro 38 spcl with WST powder. That is the only data I'm interested in right now and don't want to download it to find out there isn't any. Much appreciated.

Edit: sorry, with 125 grain JHP bullets.

The database has only 148LWC/155SWC records for 38spl/WST. Both are citing Winchester web site.
