As a special favor, I'll try to make you feel better by posting my own pitiful numbers.
I try to get out to shoot at least every year. I've got two handguns that are over a year old that I haven't fired yet. If that doesn't make you feel better, then to heck with ya, you're hopeless!

Back in the day I was shooting around 1500 rounds a week through my handguns, about an even mix of 45 and 22lr with some others mixed in there but low quantities. I had a 9mm for about 6 months and put over 10K through it back when I first started shooting seriously. Over the last 5 years I have been lucky to shoot 1500 a year. This year I went back into it a little and shot about 10K rounds. It is surprisingly easy to regain lost form.
I used to buy a handgun a month, traded and sold them like socks. It was a mistake, buy one good one, one spare just like the first and proceed to wear them out. |

Springfield Loaded 5", Kimber Custom Target 5", or one of the high end semi-production 1911 types like a Wilson or Baer in a full sized configuration if the money was on hand. Any good quality 1911 really.
The wheelgun guy in me thinks the K-frame S&W is the ultimate for all around use, but I will only buy them if they are over about 10 years old and the older the better. |

When competing and practicing for competition...
My weekly was just about the same as HSMITH's. Now not nearly so much. Age and paying for my own componants has made a difference. Sam |

I read an article written by one of the top level shooters, in American Handgunner, where he stated that he did not shoot more than 200 rounds in a session.
Decided to try it, and have stuck with it for a while. Accuracy went up and bad habits went down. Most of the time, .45, 9mm, .308. |

I shoot about 200 rounds of 9mm every 1-2 weeks, and about 500 rounds of .22

I have the best of intentions to fire between 1000-1200 rounds of 9mm & .40 every month ... with a few hundred rounds of .38, .357 & .45 added in every other month, if not every month ...
Occasionally, I'll include a session of either .22, .44 Magnum or .45 Colt ... Quality over quantity is the goal of my training & practice, however ... |

I try to average about 100 rounds each week. That can be either revolver or rifle. I rarely shoot more than 100 - 150 rounds at each session.

I try to get to the range (indoor) twice a week. Normally I shoot between 60-80 rounds per session, alternating between my carry piece,( 45 Para.,) and whatever other caliber handgun I feel like cleaning that day. It isnt much compared to what Iused to shoot, but it keeps me in tune

I've burned through 1200 rounds of .45 ACP in two trips to the range this week. First trip I burned through 600 rounds of .45 ACP. Today I burned up 600 rounds of .45 ACP, 260 rounds of 9mm and 250 rounds of 12 gauge, but I was at the range for almost four hours today.
I usually shoot between 500 to 1000 rounds of .45 ACP a month, with a few hundred rounds of 9mm thrown in. I would be able to shoot that much if I wasn't reloading though.

Shoot a bunch of mixed calibers but primarily .22 because it is so darned cheap! Usually go every two to three weeks.

I'm a sporatic shooter. that's because I don't have a car, so I have to rely on other people's schedules.
this ends up being once every couple months, and I *might* go through 100 rounds (mixture of 9mm and 5.56mm, with a tiny bit of 8mm mauser and 22lr) I shoot more in the summer, due to weather (cold, wet, and muddy do not make happy shooting days ... that's what the infantry is for) |

Due to winter weather and difficulty getting to the range, I only shoot 500 rounds a week centerfire pistol...usually in one session. The rest of the time I usually spend shooting has been allocated as reloading time.

CCW gun - every week with at least a box of ammo.
Rifle/s - usually every other week, either my AR15, AK, FAL or HK - 200 rounds and another 20 rounds for my bolt guns. |

Not like the old days in the army- we used to have to hump out to the course a case of ammo, and bring back any not shot each day. I got pretty good at shooting it all up.
Now days, I shoot 150 rounds of 45 each week, along with 100 of 40 and 100 of 9mm. Thank God for the dillon family! Reloading is the magic key to more weekly shooting, although I shoot enough I am still replacing brass on a regular basis, specially the 40 S&W...

Since the OT was cut back I have more time to kill, less money to spend. I go to the range 2-3 times per month now, take the Ruger .22 each time, and rotate between semi autos and revolvers, one or two each time. Shoot at least 50 rounds from each.

I went through a period where I shot about 200 rounds a week of 45 ACP with various drills ala Duane Thomas. That was during my quasi-para-military phase. At least I would have been extremely prepared for encountering multiple BGs.
Then I mellowed out a bit. For a several years I tried to go once a month and put 100 rounds of .45, 9mm, .40 or 38/357 and 200 rounds of 22LR at various distances. Now I don't get to shoot nearly as much as I'd like and I almost always shoot centerfire rifles. Sometimes a 1911. Unless I'm introducing a newbie to the joys of shooting where I use a 22 and a 9mm. I'd say in the last half of this year, I doubt I've put more than 300 rounds through handguns total.
