Keep looking at this picture. Czechpoint needs to hurry up and bring over the 7.5" VZ pistol so they can take my money already. Definitely have to SBR that thing.

Quit tempting me with that SBR'd pistol, I've been wanting to do that for a while (just wish they would lengthen the gas system and use a front-sight gas-block instead).

They had the 12" pistol models in for a while but I didn't think it was worth it. 4 inches just didn't seem to make a big difference. Now, 8.5" off the barrel, that's something I need to have

Yeah, I remember those...in fact I thought about trading in my D.Technik and getting one but ultimately decided that I liked the one I already had too much to part with it. Now I'm starting to reconsider.

Thanks Maverick. That's very close to a hunting round I worked up after I switched from BLC-2 to H-335. They didn't have V-max for it back then, mine was just a 123grnSP Hornady I had (and yours is about grain hotter than mine) but I had good luck out of it on deer at closer range it was more accurate than the BLC-2 loading. Hey bakergh, Its a beautiful thing isn't it?

I seen some kind of forearm device for an AK pistol but I can't remember where I saw it. It looked sorta like a butt stock and was supposed to stabilize a pistol without violating the SBR deal. Anyone see anything like that? If I could ever get my PPS-43-C to run right, I would consider paying the tax to have the stock reactivated on it.

VZ + Aimpoint.

Dang it, double post. Well I got that aimpoint pro I was eyeing. Looks cozy on the quad rail don't it?

Well I am leaving the Vz-58 club. I might return one day but for now I am looking at other stuff. If anyone is interested it is for sale in the classifieds here.

I live in one of the states that had new gun laws pass. They are banning some firearms that I will never be able to get again unless I leave the state which is what I plan on in the future. However the Vz-58 won't be banned and will still be available after the law takes affect. I can always come back to the Vz, I can't with these other ones.

I have 2 VZ-CZ 58's with 7.5" barrels. One is a 7.62x39, one is a 5.56 Nato. They are fun and extremely loud. I think I am going to have to use Linear brakes on them.

I am in Canada. the 5.56 can be had for as little as $669.00, the 7.62x39's generally go for $869 or so.

Wow, never thought the price in CAN would be less than here in the states...that's cheap, even for a couple years back before prices rose dramatically. I suppose that has a great deal to do with their popularity up your way.

About shooting at 100 y. Well, I use meters, so that target is 100 m, center ring (10-ring) is 10 cm in diameter, so the group is about 3-4 cm or a bit less. Ammo was Barnaul's SP, but the rifle does like the Sellier's FMJ.

On one of the matches I went after targets that were about 300-500 m away with the VZ, because it was the only rifle with me at that moment and targets were where they were.

That's a pretty fair group, Medusa. What optics/sights were you using?

I shoot irons only, since the rifle is plain and stock (well, sometimes I have the suppressor on, but that's it). I shot it prone unsupported (I mean no backbag under the rifle etc).

The VZ-58 seems to be pretty accurate actually, even when shooting it offhand. I usually do not shoot it for accuracy on paper and if I hit the target remotely where supposed or wanted to within 200-300 meters, it is good enough for me.

Oh, on the pic that was the first group of the day from me, taped holes are from previous engagements from some other day and other shooters. The ugly fellow is a good strong target and as long as it is not too much messed up, it will soldier on (so to speak) until it is.

Even more impressive, unless particularly large/high contrast, I'd have trouble acquiring the target at 200-300yds. with the stock irons.

I was just browsing the many nice pictures in this thread. It made me recall a PowerPoint "storyboard" I created a while back to share one of my projects with an out-of-town gun buddy. He was unfamiliar with the vz58 so I added some commentary. I'll try posting a few of those slides in case anyone else might care to see them.

Welcome to the club, Sunshine Guy. You are tuning in from Canada I presume (my assumption based upon bbl length)?

Thanks for the welcome. I actually reside in the Sunshine state, Florida.

My CZ / D Technik came with the standard 15.5" barrel plus welded extension. The PWS compensator I had installed is particularly long and changes the appearance to a surprising degree. The new barrel length of 18" including the compensator does indeed have a profile similar to the Canadian rifles.

Well that's about as far (whilst staying within NA) as I could have been off.

The compensator does throw off the silhouette, I could have swore that it was 17in.+; but after closer examination I see what you mean (sight is not in the "correct location" for a CAN variant).
