Here's my entry
I recently acquired an Old Army. So far I am impressed. It has not become my daily carry gun, but soon maybe. I spend a lot of time riding horseback in the back country. I couldn't find a holster that worked well while riding, so I made one. The entire rig including buckle was made from scrap that was laying around the shop. Very much looking foreword to warm weather so that I can shoot the Old Army without frozen fingers.

I can't say that I'd be comfortable shooting from any of the number of horses I've ridden. Horses can do the some of the most unpredicatable things under more tame circumstances than firing from the saddle. Wish I owned a sane horse. I very much have a high degree of respect for those well trained horses you see in all the Hollywood movies.

ClemBert;
Thanks for the welcome. I've had no problem re. guns and horses. However they are "gun broke" early. In addition I ride between 125 & 150 miles a week, so they are well used. Looking forward to a long and lasting relationship with the ROA. Early impression is very good. I hear complaints about the weight of the ROA, but honestly I just don't see it, or feel it. Compared to my Colts and Remington's, yes it is heavier, but certainly not too heavy to carry all day. Thanks to all who make the club possible. I am looking forward to lots of information and help in the not too distant future. |

My New ROA
Got this for Christmas for myself, Wife caught it in the mail and wrapped it. HaHA had to wait to open it up.... Have only shot it a few times, and can tell I will be shooting it more.
Bought it from a guy off Gun Broker and he was hot that I was going to shoot it. He asked why I would buy a new gun to shoot. He said I should put it in a glass case and show it off. I asked him where he kept it so everyone could see it, told me it was in his safe for 31 years. I told him it's about time it got shot. ![]() ![]() RC ![]()

Just picked up my third ROA at our club swap meet. This one is blued, 7.5" barrel and fixed sight, which is a change from the 2 adjustable sight ROAs. Bought it from the original owner and while it has clearly been used, he maintained it beautifully. The only reason he was selling was because he had finally found a stainless ROA with adjustable sights and didn't need two of them.
(An attitude I find hard to understand.) At $300 I couldn't pass it up. Besides, I've been curious about the fixed sight versions.Won't be able to get to the range for several weeks while I recover from pneumonia. When I can get out there, I figured I would start with my usual 30 grs of FFFG powder, felt wad and .457 ball. I'll be curious how well I do with the fixed sights.Regards, Jeff (Member # 19)

I recently bead blasted a ring around the cylinders of my old armies. Just wanted to personalize them a bit.
![]() ![]() I also bead blasted a couple of bands on my new model Vaquero. Gives it a distinctive yet subtle look. |

Has anyone removed the message from the cylinder. If so, how about some pics. |

I'm In! 1975 ROA My first BP. I'm busy stuffing my brains with all the info I can glean off the interweb. What a beautiful piece of machinery. Even if I never fire it, (doubtful) it is a thing to behold.

For those interested. I was in the Owatanna Minnesota Cabelas today(Sunday, Feb 6th). They had a ROA for sale at $339. The only problem with it as far as I could see was that it had no front sight! Sorry, but they would not let me take a picture.

Here is my......
......attempt at posting. The picture doesn't do it justice. I suck at taking pics. It has a very high polished shine. If I can ever afford them, I'd like to get some nice jet black micarta grips for it. I felt the need for posting because after going through all these threads, I haven't seen a high polish ROA with a red front site yet.

KevininPa Welcome KevininPa! I don't think you can go wrong with black micarta grips on a SS ROA. They certainly look great on this Clements .50 caliber ROA. It looks like your red front sight is a super duper tall one.

Nah. It's not.....
.........really any taller than others I've compared it to. Just stands out more and seems that way. I purchased this ROA off the net and wonder if the front sight is an aftermarket.
