![]() How do you remove the retaining pin? Mine seems to have either a detent ball or a detent pin in the end that sticks out of the left side of the frame. ![]() I may have to practice on some brass and plain steel and then try some stainless.

Jaymo,
It's a spring loaded detent ball. In the open position with the cylinder pin removed, just push it out from left to right. |

Thanks junkman. I thought that was the case. Mine is a bit tight. It looks like the original packing/shipping oil has pretty well turned to varnish. Guess I need to clean and lube it and then pull it.

This is my old Ruger I bought in 1971. This is how it looks now. It it going to
be chopped and shaved into a .36 cal. It won't look nothing like this when we are done. My Remmy is going thru the same thing as I type this. Will post pictures later.

Now that pistol looks as if it could tell some stories, could you supply some background? Reverse tapered barrel, trigger shoe and stop; bet it's seen mucho competition, what else was done more importantly what worked out the best and whats unseen? Thanks in advance robert

I think I getting ready to resume BP shooting again.
The weather cooled off early this year and ClemBert's shooting range is open again (hay got baled up) so it might be time to pull out the ROAs.

ARRRRGGGHHHH!! I was in a gun shop yesterday and there it is: another ROA lying in wait for an unwary shopper.
This viscious creature is blued, 7.5" barrel, adjustable sights and sports some of the nicest figured grips I've seen on any Ruger revolver. This is another one that has been fired (I suspect not much) but you can't tell from the clean bore and chambers. To make matters worse, the price was reasonable, just not fabulous. Needless to say it followed me home. This makes four ROAs in my safe. I'm thinking about selling one, maybe the fixed sight model. Between the ROAs, the Colts, the Remmy, the single shot BP pistols and long guns, there isn't enough time to use them all and I'm not a fan of safe queens. I also have a TVM Lancaster flintlock coming this spring that will be an obsession for a while. Ah, the agony of riches and what to do with them! Anybody else reaching this point? Jeff member #19

Can't believe I missed this thread for so long - maybe because I've been ignoring my smoky friends and need to get back into this. Anyway, here's my ROA and I'd be proud to be a member of the club.

I've been so infatuated with my new 5.5" Remmy, i've been neglecting the ol' gal. NOTHING with a ball rammer outshoots a ROA.
That Remmy sure is fun, though, and it's pretty accurate in its own right.Okay, gun polygamy. I admit it.

Here's one. These are not mine. I've been looking at it, but I already have a 51/2 fixed sight one. And I'm not a member yet, I'm holding out for #82.

Just found an unfired 5.5" blued ROA and jumped on it.
And here's a better pic of its stainless sibling (moved from post #430).

legionnier that's a mighty fine pair of RoA,s id like a ss shorty, but they seem to be as rare as white whales,by the way the condition of the blued one can be remedied by a trip to the range, after a good cleaning it will still look unfired
are the shortys as accurate as the 7 in barreled ones?
