I'm planning on getting one of these with PFD money this year. Anyone still make a good old-fashioned full flap holster for them? I used to have one from Hunter for the Blackhawk but sold it off and now I can't find them for sale anywhere.

Great looking pair Madcrate builder.I like the way you cleaned the stainless up.

I'm working on the ROA but those guys at Gun Broker keep jacking the price up. I reckon I'm just going to have to take off the kid gloves and start playing hard ball with them. I've made several phone calls to dealers around the country and those ROAs, in good shape, especially in stainless are hard to find.

Ok, here's my official membership...with a little extra.

Barrel face trued
Forcing cone opened up
Clement deepened the original cylinder
Banana River brass tipped ram
Treso nipples
Faux ivory blind screw grips
Classicballistx full round cylinder
Classicballistx fluted cylinder
Kirst 45LC conversion cylinder
Belt Mountain cylinder pin

The next step is likely to be a Power Custom Colt grip frame

I now have to figure out how to polish the extra cylinders to the mirror finish of the original Ruger and Kirst. Anyone know how without leaving flat spots or getting tendinitis? I was thinking about putting it in my drill press and using super fine paper and compound.

here are my three lovely roa ladies, all are pre prefix serial numbers and one has reverse writing on the cylinder. one made in 1975 and the other two made in 1976. eastbank.

You'll have to find one on the secondary market somewhere since they are no longer being made. The gun auction sites, e.g., gunbroker, generally have them posted all the time.

If you want NIB, and if you want it tomorrow, you will probably pay through the nose. If you take your time and shop them online, you stand a pretty good chance of picking up a very slightly used one for a song. I believe there are still a lot of them out there that have functioned only as extremely heavy and overbuilt cap guns.

As far as price range goes, I've seen them as high as $800 or so, and as low as $200. Can't say much on condition, because I have seen beaters sold for $500, and absolute beauties sold for around $250-$300 or so.

Patience pays. I spent more on my "user" than I did on by NIB beauty.

...But because of it, I could easily justify two... No regrets!

Ya know, I went over to GunBroker.com to take a looksie at prices. I was shocked to see ROAs going for $700. From my viewpoint a SS NIB should go for around $500 but now I'm seeing $700 for them. Looks like they are getting around $100 to $200 more than what they were getting last year.

Bought mine used at a gun shop about 2weeks ago no box and no extras for 475.00. I felt like I paid to much. The guy said your getting a good deal those go for more on gunbroker. He is right but after two trips to the range I forgot about the price. This thing shoots great! At 25 yards I was putting decent groups on the target. Decent for me anyway

There are specific stainless steel jewelers rouges for use with a felt wheel to produce a mirror finish. Some folks polish with a Dremel tool.

Good going. I especially like that fluted cylinder. Question: How much did Clements charge you to deepen your cylinder chambers? How much more powder will it hold now versus what it used to?

Anybody have there stainless ROA barrel shorten to 5/12? If so how much does it cost and who did it? Any info would be appreciated. I probably couldn't afford it right now but still interested

I checked out Gunbroker too. They had two starting at $700, and buy now options were $770 and $800. All in all, I guess I would still take the plunge today if I did not already own one, but ouch! I'd probably spend my time looking for a "father's day" ROA that made it to the range only a few times. I keep hoping that Ruger will bring them back every few years to do limited runs just to satisfy market demand.

There are some gorgeous guns here.

He charged me $50.00 and they hold about 8-10 grains extra.....and the service was FAST! Since I shoot bullets and not Round Balls, it really made things nicer. Truth is, that's not the main reason I did it. I wanted the chamber mouths chamferred and cleaned up a bit. There was a bur in one. David Clement seemed as mystified about that as I was. I always had two chambers that felt differently when I seated a bullet. Now they're all perfect.

If I get the Power Custom Colt grip frame he's going to fit it for me.

Articap...thanks for the sight. It has everything. I was at "Guns of August" today and spoke to the "The Engraver" and he was extremely helpful. He said use 600 first, then black rouge and then white rouge with Spiral Sewn then Loose Cotton wheels. Now I know where to get the stuff...

I hereby petition for membership.

The stainless (1982) came with the original Bianchi-made Ruger holster. No sign it had ever been fired. It's been shot plenty since then. The gun club member I bought it from, who doesn't shoot BP, found it at an estate sale.

Got the blue model a few weeks ago on consignment at a local gun shop. The ROA is from 1981. Looks like someone put together a presentation case with all the required accessories. Nothing has been used. $425 out the door. The reason I think it was a gift, not assembled by a shooter, is that it came from the estate of a widow. Couldn't learn more about it.

Sorry about the lousy photos. I'm still getting used to this new-fangled digital camera. Time to break out the "real" cameras and some film!

I got myself an Ruger Old Army today on Gun Broker. Stainless of course. She went for $560.00 plus another $30. for shipping. Since the seller lives in the glorious state of **********, it requires a transfer to an FFL. So I'll have to set it up Monday and of course pay a few bucks to my local gun shop and arrangement the shipment.

I've got my eye on a couple of other ROAs and might just go for a second or third.
