Thanks for the kind words Mykeal. I guess you guys have finally worn me down. It's all J-Bars fault. He let me shoot a pair of his once & I liked it. Rodwha - I took it in the light spirit that it was meant just like the rest of the ribbing that has been posted. BTW Clembert, I was down at the Branson Landing last Friday in the "As Seen on TV" store. They sell flying pigs there. Took it out this afternoon for a shooting session. Gonna take some getting used to. It doesn't balance like my '61s. Shoots center and about 8 inches low at 15 yards off hand slow fire, and when I try to run it at competition speed, I seem to be pushing the shots left. Took plenty of powder, balls & wads with me; but forgot to fill the capper, so only got to run about 60 rounds through it. I guess I'll be looking for one to pair it up with now

If an ROA can command this price, maybe Ruger would consider bringing it back...

$1,895.00 for a 5 1/2 fixed sight stainless ROA !!!...
We gotta watch this auction-- Item no.296896326 GunBroker. If someone bites, then that can be both good, and bad for all of us. Good in the sense that our ROA's are certainly a rock-solid investment, and bad in that we will certainly have to shell out more money for our next aquisition. We will just have to bite the bullet next time. $1450.00 to $1895.00 for a plain ole' matte finish 5 1/2 fixed sight is something to behold. Geez, it's not even the glossy mirror finish model that was also offered not too long ago almost everywhere for about six bills! Check out the review at GunBlast.com for that beauty with that mirror shine! Gotta check my safe and make sure the ladies are ok in there, maybe a little wipe-down ...... They are definetly coming with me when I go, oh yeah. Ok you're coming with me up there ladies, yup....

$1995.00 for a stainless 5 1/2 fixed sight ROA !!!!!!
That ROA has now been re-listed for $1995.00 #298082067 ! Crazy, crazy, crazy. At this rate IF someone bites that would set a record on discontinued pistols! My, oh my. Whew!

Congrats, Fingers. I'm glad you've joined our ranks. I won't give you any sass over buying an ROA. The way I see it, any BP gun purchase is good.
I prefer antique guns, but I also like modern. It's good to be flexible. I'm glad you've given it a good home. It'll be well loved. Two grand for an ROA?? I like the ROA, but not THAT much.

I've always said that "Guns are for buyin', not for sellin'" but I'm thinking I'd be hard pressed to keep hold of my 51/2" ROA with $2K in cash waving in my face.

Jackpots! & Temptation
hOuse: You hit the jackpot! Where on earth are those garages located? Are they one of those 65+ and over only communities? I'd go back there and give the guy you got it from a big hug! Buy him a nice apple pie while you're at it. He might find something else in his stash and call you FIRST next time. Older folks love apple pies.....oh, yes they do. Malachi Leviticus Blue: Yes, how true. Hard to resist. lets see how it goes and when it all hits the wall and settles down. Kinda like gold the past year or so, gotta hold on to it as much as we can. As always, all the very best to you all.

I think J-Bar means that the factory finish is too black and "thick" looking, and doesn't really resemble 19th Century finishes. I know most people like the black, but I don't care for it.

If I can figure out how to post a picture, add me to the list. I love my Old Army, even if it does shoot too high at close range.
