Tallbald,
How about a little enlightenment about those trigger stops I see on your guns? |

The overtravel stop is simply a brass button made from a toilet float arm secured with thick industrial epoxy behind the trigger inside the guard and then contoured with abrasive strips to allow a little trigger overtravel after letoff, but allowing unrestricted cocking. All my guns are stainless, so polishing can remove any trace of it's having been there. Thanks, Don

Salt and Pepper there Smoking gun. Nice. I'm putting together a pair. Pepper got here this week and I just found out that she hasn't make a range trip in 34 years. Salts still stuck in Utah but when she gets here it's going to be intersting. One of these old ladies is taking a trip to the range. I have enough Safe Queens.

2nd ROA In the House
![]() ROA #2, Stainless was delivered by FedEx today. She was made in 1979. The Old Gal has had a few range trips. She has some surface scratches that some Flex and a little work should remove. Then she'll get a good polish job and in a couple of weeks, she's out to the range. ROA #1 was made in 1976 and remains still unfired. A Salt and Pepper Team. Two beauties for sure!
I just need to get me a pair of faux ivory SS shorties with fixed sights. Love the look of them. |

Here's my ROA
Please enter me in the Official ROA club and send me the secret password and handshake.
I got this ROA from a gentleman who was going through a nasty divorce. (Is there ever a nice one?) He needed to sell it before his wife found it. The story behind it was he was a personal friend of Bill Ruger and Bill Ruger gave this gun to him. I have the original grips but have put Pachmyer grips on it. It has only been fired 5 times since the mid 70s and has been a safe queen since then. Guess I need to get reacquainted with it. OB |

Very interesting. The serial number identifies it as 1972 production, but it's for a blued gun. It's clearly NOT a blued gun. A very unique gun, as you suggest; the story is probably true. You can get a letter from Ruger saying when it was made and who it was shipped to. Call Ruger Customer Service at 603-865-2442.
And yes, lose the Pachmyers. |

Target grips?
Here's some pictures of some plastic target grips on my 1941 High Standard 22 pistol. As you can see they are extra long and contoured with a thumb rest and great grip. I would like to find something like these larger target grips to put on my ROA and another set for my 1968 Uberti New Army 44.
Please let me know if you know where I get some of these grips. Thanks OB |

Hmmmmm, My ser # guide says it was made between 10/76 and 12/76 and lists it as a SS 2nd type, variation. I called Ruger records dept. and they said it was to a distributor in Jan of 77. So I guess my story about the gift was a just a story. Oh well It's a fine gun anyways. Thanks for the number.

I used the serial number history records on the Ruger web site; it had no 140 prefix ROA's in stainless, and showed 140-00xxx as blued guns made in 1972. Did I read the number wrong?

ROA Nipple Wrench
![]() I have two nipple wrenches for the ROA. I just picked this 3/16ths socket for a $1 at a local Flea Market. It works on the ROA or later I may cut a slot in it for some other guns. |
