Months ago Yo Momma posted an Imperial fishing knife I commented looked like my first real knife. I told the story of how as a six year old I allowed peer pressure to urge me the throw it at a tree and the blade had broken. I also commented that I had recently found one like it at a show.
Guess what was in my most recent "box in the shop." Yep. Dad made me carry the broken thing for months as a reminder before he or Papa trusted me with another. Should not have to say which is my original from 1960 as it is obvious. -kBob |

Sweet photos, fellow citizens of the High Road!
Here is a couple from my collection: Benchmade 943, S30V Steel, 3.4" Blade ![]() Sleek, elegant profile. Swift deployment. Solid lockup. Shimmering blue titanium spacer on the back (not pictured). This is one of my favorite EDC blades. Esee Junglas, 1095 Steel, 10" Blade ![]() HOOOOOOOONGLAS!!!! Big, sharp... so ugly that it's beautiful. Boasts the best sheath system i've ever seen for a large blade (not pictured). Perfect balance in the hand. Kills big blue snakes and eats them. |

On my glacially slow DSL connection here in the boonies of central Maine, this thread takes about 15 minutes to load. I click the link, then go cook dinner. It may be fully loaded by the time I finish eating. So, I don't check in often, and I'm just getting caught up on a month's worth of posts.

Since posting my statement that a 5 would be my next blade, I've come to my senses, and decided to go for a 4 for the next one, then a 6. The 5 is a fine knife if you just want to tear stuff up, or break out of a cockpit and survive the next 24 hours til the rescue team gets to you. For the rest of us, I suspect a 4 or 6 will serve better. |

The 5 is intriguing, complete with glass smasher and bow-drill divot!

mtech knife.jpgHere's a pic of the knife I have with me today, it's a cheap one I picked up several years ago but it has a good blade. 440 steel, holds a good sharp edge, and has seen some use as you can probably see from the scratches on the blade. I'm surprized by the durability of a $5 knife...

Here's what I've recently adopted as my EDC. Its a Case Copperlock in Red Bone Jig. Checking the markings I didn't know (I bought it used on a whim) this but its actually one from 1997 which was the first year this pattern was made.

Just got this amazing custom knife by Calvin Nichols
Made according to my specifications. Amazing high gloss finish. Scales are mammoth tooth. What you cant see is that the spine is 1/4 inch thick and that it has nice file work. The maker is local to me in Raleigh, NC. Highly recommended.
