There is no minimum age for life members. At the annual NRA convention, the NRA recognized the oldest and youngest life members. The youngest is usually a baby less than 9 months old.

Looking for NRA Life Member Sponsor

I too am looking for a sponsor to signup for a $300 NRA Life Membership. I'd use the toll free number that has been posted here, but there appear to be questions as to its validity that are still unanswered. Will a willing sponsor please PM me?

Thank you!

Likewise looking for a sponsor. No better time to upgrade to Life.

I would like to sign up for a life membership per the instructions below if someone would be so kind as to sponsor me... assuming it is valid for existing members and not only new members. (I have some concern about the 888 number legitimacy seeing how it is not directly tied to the NRA and having had my CC# stolen twice this past year).

Thanks!!

New info

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can now get the $300 membership online again using the sponsors information.

www.nra-2013.org

Here's how...
1. Sign in on the above website using your sponsor's member number, zip code and email. The security code they ask for is in a box to the right on the sign in page.
2. Hit the continue button
3. Skip the second page by hitting the continue button again.
4. On the This is a : "Select a Gift Membership" box, draw down the menu and select the $300 Life
5. Fill in the rest of the page with your information
6. Hit the "Review and Complete Your Transaction" button on lower right
7. Fill in your credit card number and send.

I had two people do it today so I know it works.

Meant to call today - did anyone ever confirm the 800 number was good?

They never charged my card.

Wait for it......

I called 888-678-7894 on Friday to upgrade to Life for $300 without using a sponsor. To date, my credit card has not been charged nor have I received an email confirmation. I did contact NRA Member Services yesterday and got this reply:

Orders made over the phone can sometimes take a few business days to fully process, especially with the amount of people joining up at this time.

Thank you for your patience,

Stephen

+1 re: ErkO's comments. I am a member of GOA as well.

The NRA membership is worth ~$25/year (it's usually $35 but they're running all kinds of specials due to the current state of affairs - hence this thread) just for the American Rifleman magazine - excellent bathroom reading. Understand that it's a lobby for manufacturers, not really a "citizen's rights" type organization. Sometimes they go a bit overboard with the rhetoric, vs. GOA that conducts thoughtful analysis of facts and presents a credible public face (despite Peirs Morgan's disrespectful treatment of Larry Pratt).

Nobody's perfect (least of all myself) so I'll take the overboard crap now & then to side with the manufacturers - I do so love their products!

My understanding is that effective TODAY, the NRA has waived the sponsorship requirement and you can sign up for lifetime for $300. You stil have to have a sponsor if you do it online, but if you call the number, the requirement is waived.

I called that number (888-678-7894) and got a lady in Pennsylvania. I expressed my concerns that this was a legitimate number before I give it out, and she just gave out the NRA's mailing address (any scam artist can look that up) and kept saying "This is legit."

She said they'll close in around 15 minutes, so that's 10 PM Eastern Time.

She also said "This is from a gun show." Which is weird, considering NRA doesn't operate out of gun shows in Pennsylvania.

Does anyone have concrete, verifiable proof this number is legitimate? I asked this lady, "Hey, I'm already a member, but if I give you my NRA #, can you tell me my information?" She said that wouldn't be necessary. Googling 888-678-7894 brings up LOTS of gun forums. I just don't want this to be the perfect scam.

Instead of worrying about the # being a scam, there are 2 legitimate ways to get this offer. One is using the www.nra-2013.org site and the other is by call the NRA at 855-nra-2013

I heard the same, nevertheless I've been sponsoring new memberships and upgrades as well. Very happy to be of service.

If anyone wants/needs sponsorship, feel free to PM me.

Nothing in it for the sponsor other than the satisfaction in being of service.

Welcome aboard new members!

Indeed it is--I know several people who called last week and became Lifers ($300). As previously mentioned in the thread, by calling no sponsorship (currently) is required.

ETA: AlabamaDan--PM sent just in case you go the online route. Keep us posted as we always LIKE to hear the "Lifer Bell" ring !

--Cheers

Glad I finally did it.

Offered me choice of magazine in print or electronically which was nice.
Just a follow up. My credit card was finally charged today. So called on 1/10, charged 11 days later on the 21st.

Again thanks to PT92.
