In the end he was clear that the firearm is there not just to defend your home for an invasion but as granted by the constitution to defend the citizens from a tyrannic government. I would have referred to Hugo Chavez that was elected by the people in Venezuela and look at their constitution and rights now... gone!
He disarmed the people and then rearm the elite of his party. So in the end is all the same, wolves dressed like ship.

ALERT NY STATE!!!!
===============

Sen. Dean Skelos intends to capitulate to Gov. Cuomo’s anti-gun agenda and proposed legislation. This may happen as soon as Monday 1/14 in a rushed attempt to get this legislation passed prior to any pro second amendment opposition. We encourage all of supporters of the 2nd amedment to not take this issue lightly, do not put it off or give in. Fax and email Sen. Skelos office tonight AND call tomorrow morning to voice your opposition to ANY capitulation to this Gov. Cuomo’s legislation.

I called Sen Skelos' Office and said exactly this: "I'm opposed to all of these gun control measures. They will make the lives of legal gun owners and shooting enthusiasts miserable in NYS."

BILL IS BEING PRINTED
Midnight Vote Planned

The new state legislation will:
* Limit ammunition clips to seven. It’s now 10 (Except Criminals)
* Force gun owners to renew their licenses every five years (Except Criminals)
* Stiffen penalties for using a gun in the commission of a crime
* Stiffen penalties for bringing a gun on school property
* New restrictions on the assault weapons already owned by New Yorkers
We (gun owners) did what we could.

The Democrats and Governor Cuomo say to usLet them eat cake!

http://www.scopeny.org/midnight_vote.html

LET THEM EAT CAKE!

NEW YORK GOVERNOR GETS HIS BILL AND BULLIES GUN OWNERS ACROSS THE STATE. He beats Obama to the punch. Now on to 2016.
This is a pure power grab by Cuomo, he wants to be the first one to pass a gun ban since New-Town. He will of course get national recognition and high fives from 0bama at the State of the Union address. All setting himself up for the presidential run in 2016.
VOTE Planned at Midnight!

I just called the office of senator Skelos another one leading the charge and told them this is unacceptable.

I told them this bill is irrational and irresponsible. This is not going to make any improvements in the security, it might make it worse if we learned something from the history of bans. They are making criminals of honest citizens that bought their firearms and gear with hard earned dollars and those purchases gave a good source of tax income to the state. Should this ever pass the ones who supported this they will see huge social and financial pressures like never before from the
defenders of the constitution and 2nd amendment.

Call Skelos office tonight! even if you are form other state it doesn't matter. Remember that cuomo wants to run for president in 2016.

NY just took a vote, and the gun control bill passed 43-18. It still has to clear the senate and legal challenges, but we're off to a bad start. Let this be what keeps Cuomo from the presidency in 2016.

There is no one single proof that these bans make anyone any safer. In fact they make people less safe if we look at the statistics from the FBI and history of bans. More people die form assault with a simple hammer than from a long rifle. Those are the facts that anyone can verify but people are too lazy to even look them up. This is a political reaction to the masses that have been brainwashed by a sensationalist media w/o giving any opportunity for objective analysis of the situation and what is best for ny.
Now they will have to deal with the aftermath of this and it will not be pretty because thousands of honest hard working tax paying Americans that like the shooting sports are not going to accept being bullied anymore.

Glad I got the hell out of NY ten years ago, I lived there for 55+ years and had a carry permit for 28 of them and sure don't miss all the BS connected with firearms there.
I wish you guys the best.

So folks this goon wants to run in 2016. Heil Hitler!!

I salute the great state of Utah that has a strong stand and said should any federal bans tried to be enforced there they will arrest any federal agents trying to enforce anything and charge them.

Don't ever give up.

HEre we are going to give them hell. Huge boycotts to any supporters should be expected.

Our Worst Nightmare Is Starting To Happen In New York.. Magazine Seizure! Guns Next!

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-...wtown-gun-law/

Just read this very disturbing article about the Assault Weapon Ban being passed in the New York Senate. It appears there is no grandfather clause for all items that are being banned and owners of these items will be considered criminals by the government for possessing them if they are not sold to people out-of-state within a year.

Quote:
Ammunition magazines would be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10, and current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. An owner caught at home with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge.
This is absolutely horrible and it also makes me think with the current mentality of the Democrats and all other supporters of the gun ban, that there will be no grandfather clause, assuming everyone else follows the footsteps of the fascist Cuomo. My feelings are, that he will use the excuse of people possessing hi cap magazines to perform raids on people and arrests on people who he has beliefs

Considering, the government may have access to records of purchases of these magazines, he would have a long list of newly-made criminals who he can persecute and have arrested. Once these people are in the system, all their other gun rights will be jeopardized as well.

This is a horrible attack on the 2nd Amendment and the fascist Cuomo Mussolini should be tried for treason! I'm glad I don't live in New York now and I don't think I would comply with orders to surrender my magazines.

Sad to say, the first gun seizure is under way! I think something drastic is needed or else other states will follow through. Cuomo has stated many times he wants confiscation of all semi automatic firearms and I don't doubt for a minute that he will make a similar ban on semi auto rifles as he has done on what he calls "hi-cap/ 10rd magazines". By banning 10 rd magazines, he has basically made a good majority of semi automatic handguns no longer usable in the state of New York.

New Yorkers need to do something. The American people need to do something. This is an atrocity.

To quote Franklin D. Roosevelt after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, "This is a Date Which Will Live in Infamy".

Like the Japanese invasion, now America has been invaded internally by fascists who want to destroy our freedom.

It gets worse, New Yorkers will no longer be able to buy semi automatic rifles (anything classified as AW by NY gov't) online anymore. That means anybody in New York will no longer be able to sell or purchase a semi-automatic firearm online.

Quote:
Private sales of assault weapons to someone other than an immediate family would be subject to a background check through a dealer. Also Internet sales of assault weapons would be banned, and failing to safely store a weapon could be subject to a misdemeanor charge.

Also, all private sales of semi-automatic rifles will be required to go through an FFL. Essentially, banning the private sales of semi-auto rifles.

Most of this legislation is bad, but the seven-round limit is horrible. Even full-size 1911 magazines fall afoul of this.

I wonder if this law (as it looks like it will be) can be overturned through the USSC based on the Heller and MacDonald decisions.

Did it pass through your house or the senate? What are the chances it makes it through both?

D.C. v Heller 554 U. S. (2008)
. . . .
Neither United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542, 553, nor Presser v. Illinois, 116 U. S. 252, 264–265, refutes the individual-rights interpretation. United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174, does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.
. . . .
... Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those “in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.
Ten shot is a common and ordinary capacity for target pistols, which qualify as "in common use for lawful purposes" and can scarcely be typified as "dangerous and unusual". Of course guns are dangerous, but common firearms are not the "dangerous and unusual" i.e. "unusually dangerous" interpretation of the old "to the terror of the community" statutes.

And how the hades does New York reconcile the US Government Civilian Marksmanship Program with a ban on civilian ownership of military rifles?

Pull your heads out NY citizens. Its not about 'safety'. They want you disarmed, all of you. They always wanted you disarmed, and just took advantage of events to try to make it happen. (Events statistically less likely than being struck by lightening.)

Now its up to you gunowners there

As it'll be up to each of us in our own states

Would this happen in Texas, Montana, Idaho, or Wyoming ?

All the best to fellow 2A supporters in NY

After the expiration of the AWB gunowners in many states became complacent. Because of two massacres by mental cases, we are suddenly hit with a political/media blitz for more gun control. Gunowners/hunters in many states are no longer united in a common cause. That is evident from message boards where many gunowners are talking compromise on our Second Amendment rights.

i'm not sure that anyone from outside the state of NY can help NY gunowners.

Just a small observation in the new bill. NY citizens can take their high capacity magazines, that are so hated by the anti gun population, and supply them to the rest of the States but not keep them in their own. I really don't see the boarding States being too happy about this move. Not in my backyard but ok if we put it in yours.... how hypocritical

Join the NRA. Pressure NRA-ILA to take this NY law to the Supreme Court, where as of now, there is a good chance it will be overturned because of Heller, just as Chicago's crazy laws and DC's crazy laws were overturned.
Do it now to set a good precedent so that other States cannot set these laws anymore...do not wait for the composition of the Supreme Court to change.
Become a life member of the NRA and then you can vote.
Also, please join GOA and SAF.

PS. And work diligently to get these clowns in the NY State legislature out of office, and to educate your kids on the Constitution and 2A so they never elect such clowns again.
