But it seems they've settled on Las Vegas.

They used to alternate with other cities, but when some mayors went Anti they stopped hopping around and alternated with Orlando. Then they stopped doing even that.

I don't think it was ever strictly alternated, more like several years in Las Vegas, one Somewhere Else, back to Vegas for a good while.
I have been to SHOT at Vegas once, New Orleans once, Orlando twice over a 22 year span. I saw a lot of complaints over high prices and little to do outside the show in New Orleans and Orlando. Most attendees prefer Las Vegas.

NSSF signed a 20 year contract with Vegas, so that's where it will be for another 15 years or so.
