Anti-gun bill in MN

Minnesota: Anti-Gun Bill Moving Forward Unless Your State Representative Hears from You!

A bill that will criminalize the private transfer of handguns and certain semi-automatic rifles at gun shows will likely be heard this week or next in the House Rules Committee. House File 285, introduced by state Representative John Lesch (DFL-66B), passed in the House Public Safety, Finance and Policy Committee by a 10 to 8 vote on April 8 after being amended to include a ban on private sales. If HF 285 passes in the House Rules Committee, it will be eligible for final consideration on the House floor as early as this week.

Please contact your state Representative and members of the House Rules Committee today and demand that they OPPOSE HF 285 in its entirety.

I looked through the bill, and while I do not support it, it does not ban individual sales, even at gun shows.

It looks like it requires what I already do as best practices for personal sales in MN... require the buyer to have a permit to purchase or a permit to carry.

Any additional infringements on our Rights should be met with opposition. Especially if they gain a little and say, 'well that was easy.'

Good luck guys.

My letters have been sent. I oppsoe it just for the fact they are wasting our tax payer money on this and other bills when they need to worry about things that matter to people in MN. This is not one of them.

I heard yesterday morning on NPR that the House and Senate are not going to be considering any gun bills this year now.

They quoted one legislator as saying "Well, we thought there was a lot of consitituent support for the background checks thing, but when we polled the members, they said they were being drowned out by constituent calls opposing it..."

Which only goes to prove that A. Support for gun control is a mile wide and an inch deep, and B. That support is mostly from ignorant people who don't actually care much.

Oh geez, they're trying to bring it back again? Guess I'll be making some more phone calls. I swear, we seriously need to separate MN into the Duluth and Twin cities metro - and the outstate counties. Freakin idiots in the sanctuary cities electing freaking idiots in the state political system are most of the problem with this state.

I just received an email from the Gun Owners Alliance of MN stating that all Gun Legislation has been pulled from the rest of this session. Looks like they finally realized most do not want any of it anyway.

Glad they were able to shut it down. Now - if this kind of thing would happen country wide - there might be ammo on the shelves!

Kudos to the Minnesota GOCRA members that sacrificed their time and energy to show up at all the hearings to speak on behalf of all Minnesota gun owners. They deserve all the credit in the world for fighting the gun grabbers in our state.
