Asking about values of semi-autos
If you are looking to buy a semiautomatic magazine fed centerfire rifle right now, you are going to need over a grand in most cases. If you want a name brand like a "Colt 6920" you are going to pay through the nose for it, especially if new in the box. Some retailers are sticking to pre-panic pricing but most have marked up what ever is coming in. Those of you selling, take a good look at completed auctions at Gunbroker and our classifieds here and locally. Take a deep breath. We are not out of the woods yet, and pricing could still go way up or come back down. YOU have to decide how much YOU are willing to spend, rather than 'what might the price be?' Often those two amounts don't meet.

I see prices everywhere from $1500 to almost $3,000 locally. They practically vaporize from the shelves.

I just hope people are really paying attention. Before the ban list came out people were asking "insane" prices for mini's and SKS's. Now those two in particular are on the "good" list and not part of the soon-to be banned...for now.
Have to wonder what that guy who just paid $800.00 for an SKS or $1500 for a Mini Ranch Rifle will think next month when their sell prices are halved. Bet there are a bunch of soured buyers out there. |

My LGS is selling rifles and mags at very high prices and there is a huge sign on the counter that says no returns on rifles or mags (like after the prices normalize). Buyer beware.

I had to ask myself:
if there were any items I have wanted all along, but had not yet obtained, at what cost difference would I be willing to accept a future price drop? Things in general have been getting scarce over time.
Much of what I recently acquired was marked up at least 25% prior to the recent gun control noise. That difference will still decrease over time (as all prior history has proven to be true). So I will either take a loss, or will have to sit on some stuff until later to get my investment to break even. Current demands could conceivably place my desired items out of reach well beyond the next six months. New hostilities abroad could do it. Prices might just continue to keep on the sky rocket path. It's sort of like Silver as an investment, except you can not defend yourself with Silver, nor will it put food on the table from the wild. Silver is not even any fun to shoot ![]() Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen.

Yes, in New York state. Proposed and discussed at Federal level, but has not and hopefully will not pass Congress. Normal capacity magazines ("High capacity" is an anti term, just as they talk about gun violence, not gun control). In any case, the possibility of a ban had driven the price of all magazines to double or triple what they were 6 months ago. If you can find any for sale. I can't get 10 round mags for my new 10 22.

It seems a bit disproportionate to me, at least in my area.
Around here, you CANNOT find: Mini-14, Mini-30, and associated mags Glock 9mm anything from pistols to magazines as well as ammo. I don't know if you could find a Glock 9mm cleaning brush. Things that are expensive, but seem plentiful: AR-15 mags, many brands, some Colts .40 caliber anything from pistols to magazines as well as ammo. You can even find AR's, you just have to be willing to overpay.

AR prices locally have dropped or at least stabilized, seems new owners won't throw down 2-3K on a rifle they cannot feed. Since 2008 I have made several purchases and trades on firearms. Since the ammo shortage of 2008-2009 I have spent many more $ on ammunition than firearms, should be able to weather the ammo shortage of 2013-2015.
