Yep, even with index clips it bugged me. besides its intent was 3 gun, don't need attachment points period. However the quad rail is being used for my 6.8 upper that is on hold since I picked the wrong time to build it. ( still waiting on my barrel that I ordered pre Newton and a BCG) |

I get it now, but still, delta ring retained handguards on a competition/precision build are a bad idea. and your rear sight is still on backwards. |

You might view it as sacrilege (the handguard), but it works for me, I'm not shooting hi power. Last edited by tarosean; February 7, 2013 at 07:54 PM. |

I would love to post picks of my ARs but sadly they and all my ammo were lost in a tragic boating accident.

Wasn't too loud, it does get your attention though.
Makes a guy grin... New tube by the end of the week, and then start saving pennies for a laser.

avs11054, kimberkid is correct. The AR in the pic is a pistol build.
I built it up on a lower that I had purchased as a stripped lower. Something to be aware of that some folks may not realize, placing a short barreled upper on a rifle lower is a no no in the eyes of the ATF. Felony type no no. Unless the background check, paperwork, tax stamp, engraving, etc are done. I've noticed quite a few short uppers being sold lately, it would definately be prudent to research the laws concerning AR pistols and short barreled rifles.

So do you need a tax stamp for the shorter barrel for a pistol build?

No. It's a pistol, just like any other. If you put that upper on a rifle lower, then yes, you'd need a SBR stamp. Otherwise, it's just a pistol.
