Multiple .45's? _Well, for multiple reasons...
I am currently not a handgun owner, but when I was several years ago, I had the following, and for different reasons: Colt Series 80 Lightweight Commander - because it was the first one, and a good deal. Colt Series 70 Gold Cup - because it would take the wear of lots of shooting better than the L.C., and because it was nicely gunsmithed for IPSC - a good investment at the price Colt Officers Model - (blue) because I wanted a .45 that was smaller as a carry gun, and when the O M came out, it was only available in blued (black) finish. Colt Officers Model - (SS) because I really wanted my carry gun to be stainless - it would wear better and not be subject to rust/corrosion on externals. At the time, I also had these others: Walther PPKS in .380 (blue) because it was a great CCW when I was in social situations, more compact than a .45 S&W 686 for HD, because my ex-wife was more comfortable with a revolver, and her comment was, "Anything less than a .357 is boring." Browning Hi Power 9mm - the worst trigger I've ever owned! It came and went fairly quickly. Colt Woodsman, made 1947, in cherry condition, original box. Because I bought it for $350, and simply couldn't say "no" at that price! TC Contender in .44 mag, with 14" barrel - Just because having a handgun that was a "two-hander" was really fun! The 686 went with my ex- when we split up. I got rid of the Hi Power because the trigger was atrocious. The Colt Series 80 and the 2 Officer's Models went to pay for the divorce, as did the PPKS. Later, when I moved to NY State as a new bachelor, the Gold Cup was sold to a NYS Trooper, and the Woodsman went to a friend for his gf . I didn't use the Contender, so it went, too. I am currently wanting an M&P .40, but new (young) wife is expecting twins, so that'll have to go on the back burner for now. |

I use my full-size Kimber for everything. I got a .22 conversion kit for it. But then I got a commemorative Para with markings on it from my unit's deployment, so I am using it for basically any time I open carry.

I don't but only becaus I lack the funds too, and there are too many DIFFERENT models I'm interested in. I'll probably pick up another 1911 at some point, but probably in 38 super or 10mm.

I have about 8 1911's. Two are carry guns the rest are configured for competition in a specific division. As mentioned earlier it's not much different from have multiples in the closet. Each outfit has a purpose.

Parkerized, blued, brushed stainless, ultimate stainless, nickel plated, two-tone, lightweight, 3", 3-1/2", 4", 4-1/4", 5", fixed sights, adjustable sights, standard model, enhanced/Gold Cup, 45acp, 10mm 9mm, 38 Super........yeah. I can't think of any reason someone may want more than one 1911.
![]() The 1911 is my favorite handgun design and between the wife and me, I think we have about 12 of them or so.

Meh, I see no reason to have two of the same gun. If it is a different configuration then that is different ball game as I am thinking of getting another Glock 19 to put an RMR on it and leave the other bone stock.
Not that there is anything wrong with owning multiples, would just rather use my gun money for new and different ones

Because one is none and two is one. Dave |

It's a trick question, right? Ask the wife how many purses and pairs of shoes she has.
I have a dozen 1911s. Reasons to own multiple 1911s - 3", 4", 5", 6", single stack, double stack, 9mm, .38 super, .40 S&W, .45 ACP.... Enough said!

Funny this came up. I have 2 with another on the way. All 5'', all 45acp. I bought the lastest because I didnt' have a two tone.
I also have 2 M&P40 pro series, 1 in 5'' and 1 in 4.25''. How can you have one without the other.

1 fullsize day setup.
1 compact day setup 1 fullsize night setup 1 compact night setup 1 compact front gold bead for gloomy weather days That's 5 1911's just to optimize sights for the conditions of carry. Then throw in a one more Melonited version for winter weather and outdoor conditions..... |

As someone else put it, ask her why she has more than 1 pair of shoes, or more than 1 purse.
Also, it's a Bill of Rights, not a Bill of Needs.

I have 3 1911s. A Kimber Warrior (one of the first 500 with the Novak sights) that is my duty weapon (SureFire X200 mounted on it). A Colt Mk IV Series 70 Government Model that I carry off duty and a Colt Series 80 Officers ACP that is in the gun room.

Currently only have 1 but I definitely love my Kimber and look forward to owning an Ultra someday for carry. I also wouldn't mind one in a 9mm
