CZ canvas back in 20ga
Does anyone have first hand experience with these O/U. I can buy one for 425$ and was wondering if the shotguns are worth it. |

I've shot both the s/s and o/u models, no long term experience but they seemed like very nice field guns to me.

I am afraid you get what you pay for.

I looked at one in 12ga the other day, and it seemed to be of reasonable quality, at least from appearances.
It was head and shoulders above the Stoeger Condor and Stevens Goldwing. Action was neither stiff (considering it was new) or loose. The safety/barrel selector clicked into the various positions well and did not have any play in it. The combination of extractors, light weight, and 26" barrels leads me to believe that it will perform pretty well as a field gun for various winged game. Also, $425 is a pretty good price. The one I looked at was a tad over $600 new. |

They are good field guns. Just don't expect any sort of longevity from it if you plan to busy clays with it every weekend.

They are hit and miss quality wise ( and they seem to be trying to get better as of late); however.........as mentioned, you do tend to get what you pay for - and O/U and SxS are the two most expensive types of shotguns to make. Quality versions require a fair amount of handwork on top of any CNC machining - something the CZ's typically cannot provide at the price point they are sold at.
It is like comparing the $3 Chinese hammer that Lowe's sells for those who only hang tiny picture nails versus the $40 Estwing hammer that a carpenter needs to be reliable every day - what your intended usage is will determine whether a CZ is best for you. Not saying you need the "Estwing"of shotguns either, but maybe something a step up from the CZ might serve you better - like a Franchi, Lanber or similar

Had a Redhead 20ga for two years before I stopped loading/shooting 20ga.
Never had a problem with it. Lots of folks over on shotgun world forums love their CZs, so I don't think the reliability is really an issue with them. CZ is known for good customer service, though their pistols are some of the most reliable out there. $425 seems like a steal. I bought a used Cynergy for $999 that's in near new condition, so maybe O/U values have taken a plunge again.. |

You cannot compare their Czech-made pistols to their Turkish-made shotguns

I have 1 in 12 gage. Not a single problem after about 500 rounds of clay shooting.

Had a 28 ga. I could carry one without regrets. A friend has a 20 that has an awesome piece of wood. I think that I can talk him out of it.

For your average shooter, 1k shots per year average, the CZ Canvas bag, will be more than enough, and then some.
