I vote revo, particularly S&W

I dunno, 'fessor.

Carried a 66 2.5" for a while & started looking at bullet weight velocities, etc. in the shorties & came up with a 9mm isn't giving up a thing, + it (in the BHP) has about another 9 rounds or so in the same offereing.

Being flatter & a better single action trigger .... what's not to like?

Other than personal pref, that is .....

Both have their strong points and drawbacks. I prefer revolvers for CCW, but I also carry autos. Like C.R. Sam says, revolvers for defense, autos for offense.

The main strongpoints of the revolver for CCW are simplicity, ammo insensitivity, good power-to-weight ratio, and the fact that the revolver is a self-contained weapons system with no magazines to lose or break.

The main strongpoints of the autopistol for CCW are higher capacity, faster reload speeds, and generally a slimmer profile.

Most of the time, I carry a revolver, with an autochucker as backup. 95% of the time I won't need more than the 5-6 reliable shots out of the wheel...and if I do, the fastest reload is a second gun. By carrying a BUG, you negate the main drawback of the wheel versus the autoloader, which is a slower reload.

While I prefer a good 1911, I wouldn't feel too bad with a S&W 19/66 in hand. Carried one long enough when on the police department. Carried a 1911 longer though.

Heck, there are times that a good SAA would be a comfort.

Depends. I live way out in the boonies where I'm more likely to have to put down an animal I just hit with my truck than a human. For that I'm very comfortable with a S&W M19. When I have to go to the big city and stay in a motel (which I think are really dangerous places) I'm packing a full sized 1911 with three spare mags. YMMV

Both. I'll either have a revolver or auto for CCW, with a revolver for backup. I used to carry a P32 for backup, but I don't like the trigger and would rather rely on a revolver in my left hand. With a revolver I don't have to worry about a slide not going into full battery in my weaker left hand.

I switch between my Taurus 617 or USPc for a main carry gun.

Depends on attire, season, location, and phase of the moon.

PC13 or P7M8, 1911 or 629, I'm happy.

(Most days I carry a 5-shot revolver as my primary gun, with an 8+1 shot auto for backup.

Depends on the occassion; as I rely heavily on both. But
for serious social encounter's, give me a SIG-Sauer P220
any day!

Carry mostly a P220, but feel very comfortable with an SP101. I've recently gotten interest in a 686 or a 627...wanted 'em both for a long, long time.

Since I currently own only one revo,(S&W 686),it's semi auto 95% of the time..Besides,I rather enjoy popping clips into my semis. Plus,you just can't beat the sound of a Sig going back into battery...

Was a revolver guy for a long time but I'm completely confident in all of my defensive autos. Slimmer, more rounds plus the 1911A1 is the definition of ultimate combat sidearm. If you prefer the smaller rounds but more of 'em, the Hi Power and later CZ75 designs fulfill that niche perfectly.

I like both as well. For CCW, I generally carry a wheel gun. Right now, that's a S&W 38 +P Air Light.

Other times I carry my 9MM Hi Cap Taurus Mod 92 (usually as a backup). Got to admit, it's nice to have 15 in the mag plus one in the pipe.

For in the car riding...the wheel gun and my 1911 Colt.

I like my 1911 more than any revolver I've held or fired, so I'll be using it for CCW when I start carrying. But IMO, open carry requires a stylish handgun, like an 1860 cap & ball or an 8" SAA.

Own a few of both, but find myself shooting revolvers more & more. I don't carry (would if I could but it's not allowed here

I'm more accurate with revolvers, probably due to practice time, plus it's easier to keep track of the spent brass, no digging in the weeds on hands & knees!

I prefer an auto for carry, specifically, my Glock 26. I like having 10 rounds on tap in a very concealable package, and having 17 more easily carried in a mag carrier on my belt. I know, I'll probably never use that many rounds, but it is comforting.

I like revolvers for target shooting and developing loads, especially single-action revolvers. They are just so much fun to shoot.

If it's gottta be one or the other, I'll go for a 9mm auto just because of no shortage of ammo most anywhere I'm likely to find myself....

I'm still in my auto puppy love phase, anyway....

Definitely an auto for CCW. Give me a Kahr K series or a P7M8 anyday. Now at the range, that's a different story. Nothing beats a good .357 or .44 mag shootin' match!

But...

My father still has that SW 22mag that I'm eyeing right now.

If and when he decides to give it to me, then I'll change my mind...

Yes to both. Current favorite is my USPc 9. But I love shooting vintage S&W revo's.
