I recently received, through our state game department, a warning about a group of very aggressive poachers who are thought to be operating in the area where I hunt deer and quail. They are described as "dangerous" and armed with "automatic", suppressed rifles (their terms).
Our state recently removed most rules against carrying any gun that was not legal for deer hunting, while deer hunting. Given that my deer hunting is pretty solitary, and a bolt-action rifle with a few rounds is not a prime choice for self-defense, I now legally have the option to add the Glock to my deer rig.
I suppose I could also switch to an AR with high-cap magazine as my deer rifle (not my preference but other changes in our laws here now permit that). Actually, I could now carry the pistol even while bow-hunting.
How many of you also carry a dedicated self-defense gun while you are hunting with some other weapon?
