Your Next Handgun - Which One, and How You Plan to Get It ?

New model, Why not?
IIRC they sell both a small (new vaquero) and large (standard blackhawk) frame .45 convertible blackhawk. The smalls are a distributor exclusive model. Maybe the poster has the small frame?

Edit: Lipsey's sells a DE Blackhawk "Flat top" convertible that they specify uses the "mid-size" frame. That frame is not considered "Ruger only" load safe from what I've read.

Many years ago I sold a S&W model 17 .22 cal.revolver. I regret doing that. I have been thinking about another .22 to go with my Ruger 22/45. I noticed a beautiful 17 at the LGS the other day. It cost $765. I would love to get it but that is a lot of money for a used .22. A new 617 would be nice but I think that would be even more money. Over $800 for a .22. I shouldn't spend my social security/pension money on something I don't really need. Then again it is a gun.:)

CZ Scorpion. I will probably buy it from somewhere online and have it shipped to my local FFL. I like doing it that way because the $20 transfer fee is cheaper than paying $40-50 in sales tax. Besides most guns are cheaper online because they can be bought from big box gun stores.

And then I'll convert that bad boy to an SBR with side-folding stock.

I'm pretty well set with SD/CCW handguns, and I've got a nice .22 target gun so I'm thinking my next purchase will be something different. I'd like to get a SA Ruger in .45LC. Haven't decided for sure on a Vaquero or Blackhawk but one or the other.

It's either a Glock 35 or a S&W Governor. Haven't decided, but for some reason I lean towards the Governor because I want to test it thoroughly with different types of .45 Colt and ACP.

The Glock's I already know what ammo I'm putting in them, but the Governor I'm trying to determine which would be the most accurate and effective ammo. I figure it's probably going to end up being lead round nose, but I'm going to give some of that Herter's Nylon ammo and Atomic .45 ACP Semi Wadcutter a shot.

I'm going to try to get all these guns used, especially the Glocks.

just got a glock 30.it shoots real nice.my next gun may be that new ruger redhawk 45colt/45 acp revolver.

I just completed a switch to 9mm Glocks for duty and most personal-time carry, as .40 recoil was becoming a bit much for one of my aging, aching wrists, whether shooting lefty or right-handed. (The support hand does feel the force of recoil, too, when using a good thumbs-forward grip.) With a pair, each, of G17 and G19, plus a G34, acquired over a 3.5-year time span, the next logical step is a G26, for on-duty back-up. it is not that I necessarily need a G26, as I already have other small handguns for that role, but a G26 is a leading contender for my next handgun, most likely a "blue label" from a local police equipment store.

If I buy a handgun before Summer 2016, it will likely be a G26. Everything else would probably be postponed beyond that point, as the second quarter of 2016 is a potential time for me to retire. (Or, I may well work a few more years.)

An AR15 lower receiver is a serious consideration. I already have a lower receiver parts kit, and a logical next step is a receiver that is not designated as a rifle receiver, so I can build either a rifle or pistol.

.22 LR target pistols are appealing. Several options have my attention.

I like single-action revolvers. I have "enough" of them, but as my attention turns from surviving the big-city streets, to rural walking-about, well, something new will probably appeal to me, sooner or later.

Nothing I have mentioned here will be acquired by accruing debt. I use an American Express card for most purchases, but it is paid, in full, each month.
Well, since my prior reply in this thread, a few days ago, I proceeded to acquire the inevitable G26. I elected to trade a PPK/s-1, the extended tang of which was eating a hole in my hand when I shot it. (I still have my West German-made PPK/s, with its normal tang that does not make me bleed.)

So, my number of handguns remains the same, for now, and there is presently no specific goal in mind for my next handgun.

I'm preparing to trade a nib Glock 36 for a used pre lock 686. My 617 needs a larger caliber twin and I don't expect to ever regret this decision.

Kimber classic II, because I like not having money and I live in the Republik of massachusetts

They are built on the medium weight 357 XR3 frames. They are good for up to 25,000 to 27,000psi (45ACP range) from what I've read so far.

^but he didn't identify what he has, for all we know he has a new model blackhawk.

I'm shooting .45C+p in my .45 convertible new model Blackhawk(BN455x).

My next gun will be a Remington R51.

I plan on getting it by rappelling into the Remington plant, Ghost Protocol style, with my band of gun-smithing elves.

The elves will fix everything wrong with the R51. We'll leave one example of the perfected piece on the desk of the Remington CEO on Christmas morning as a gift to the world.

Man. I think I've stayed up too late.

Unless the 686 is beat up, I'd call that a smoking good deal. [emoji6]
It's going to take some driving and a good stash of magazines to go along but it will still be worth it. My fingers are crossed that the deal won't fall through.

My next handgun will be a P-38. I intend to get it by shooting a German officer with the Liberator .45 that the allies supplied to my resistance group.

(Sorry, but the "how you plan to get it" sent me down this path.)

Ruger just released a new Redhawk in 45 Colt that also shoots 45ACP in moon clips. I have a New Blackhawk 45ACP/45 Colt convertible but you can't shoot hot loads in it. The new Redhawk will take the "Ruger Only Loads". I want to experiment with hot 45 Colt loads, 250 to 300grn bullets. Plus I can shoot 45ACP in it also. All of my 1911s are 45ACP. The new Redhawk is just starting to show up with a few distributors. So it will be awhile before they show up locally.

UPDATE: I saw one of the new Redhawks listed for sale on one of the gun forms from a dealer in VT. We emailed each other a couple of times and I bought it this afternoon!! It should be hear Friday or Monday afternoon. I'll be able to pick it up Monday or Tuesday. :D It's from Davidson's so has a lifetime warranty!! While it was not local, I just love it when a plan comes together!!!

p-64 in 9x18 also known as 9mm Makarov.
I'm cheap, and I love Com-block, Soviet era firearms. Tough, steel, super simple and ridiculously reliable.

Maybe for Easter you could hop by the Kel Tec plant with the Easter Bunny and come up with the process plans to increase their productivity and quality?
