High Noon Holsters

Does anyone have any firsthand experience with Highnoon Holsters, specifically the Bare Asset? I'm thinking about grabbing one of those while I experiment carrying a Walther P99 (which has incredibly limited holster options). From looking at it, it should be comparable to a DeSantis Soft Tuck, but with slightly better hold to the belt thanks to the C-clip vs. the J-Hook.

Hmmm. That's not very reassuring for their top tier holsters, but I'm not sure that would be an issue with the particular holster I'm looking at as it doesn't have molded in sight track.

I have a nice Slide Guard from High Noon. If I were to do it again, I'd get the Topless, but that's simply because I don't care for the tall sweat shield of the Slide Guard.

I think I'd be concerned about those soft leather holsters with a striker fired gun. I usually think everybody on the net has seen the guy with the Glock and squishy holster that shot himself, but maybe not...

I think High Noon generally makes a good product, but I tend to agree with forum moderator 9mmepiphany comments in the linked thread, their prices for their good holsters have gone up to the point where I don't think they are a value any more.

I'd be more inclined to get a kydex holster for a striker fired gun. I have no experience with High Noon's kydex, but there are lots of good kydex makers.

That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. The reason I'm not hugely worried about a soft holster with the P99 is the fact that it would be decocked in DA (quite a nifty feature for a striker fired gun, if I say so myself but that's for a different thread). I suppose I'll have just swallow my impatient nature and grab a kydex holster and wait on production.

The DA/SA advantage is typically the ability to block the hammer with your thumb when holstering. While the P99 may be DA, it doesn't have a hammer and you lose that advantage.

I bought a Bare Asset for my Glock 23 years ago and carried it a lot. When I bought my Shield, I tried it in the holster and it fit great. Now I carry the Shield in the Bare Asset. I think I got the holster in 2007 and it was my only holster until I got a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster in the last year or so. The Bare Asset is still holding up. I keep thinking I need to buy another that is specifically made for the Shield, or maybe one for my MK9.

Well rather than try one and it not be what I was looking for, I went another route. I'm giving a Foxx Holsters hybrid a try. All in I spent $58.00 for a hybrid holster that's along the same lines as a Crossbreed or Alien Concealment holster. It should be in by the end of next week. Just because I could do it without incurring an upcharge, I opted to have the kydex in Kryptek Neptune. No one is ever going to see the holster while it's on my hip, but I wanted something other than the basic black shell.

The "sweat" guard is more about protecting your belly from the slide serrations than your gun from sweat. I have two of them; one for a G23 and a Sig P226. I had a third for a Sig 2022, but sold that rig when I got the 226. I tried DOZENS of carry options, and this is by far the best fitting, most comfortable option for me. I will not buy anything else, I am officially a HighNooner.

I've had 4 high noon holsters that I can remember, while I don't remember the models I do remember all three being very good quality and having no complaints.

I believe one was a Mr. Softy, don't remember about the other three, two were my wife's. She loves them and asks specifically for them when she gets a new carry gun.

Not now. Unbelievably rude comments by Alex. I cant believe anyone would respond like he did to potential customers.

Also his explanations seemed almost as bad.

And that holster was not acceptable.

I wouldn't take a free holster of theirs much less pay that kind of money for one

If I had any of those guns you listed, the tall sweat shield probably wouldn't matter and I may even prefer it. However, I'm a 1911 shooter, and to me at least, a "full firing grip" means I need to get my thumb to the thumb safety. I can't do that with a tall sweat shield, hence my preference for the Topless model.
