Trouble = 5.56 brass HELP

Hello the highroad please help me. I am attempting to load 5.56 American Eagle brass that has been once fired through a DPMS AR 15. I'm using a RCBS 223 Die Set and here is the problem.

The brass is not re sizing correct. The bullets case mouth is to big? There is not enough tension on the case to seat the bullet properly I can just pull the bullet off? Make sense? I resized and de primerd and am lost.

I'm trying to load Seirra 65 grain 224. With benchmark 23.5 powder, nice groups at 100

Please help. Shouldn't the 223 dies resize the brass correct? I don't understand.
 
Are you crimping the bullets? This can be very problematic if so.

Double check:
Correct die?
Die adjusted properly?
Correct stem/expander?
Mic the bullet?
Does the cartridge pass a "gage" or chamber checker?
Split necks?
 
Measure the expanders diameter. Should be .222" Make sure your using the full length sizing die and it contacts the shell holder when the ram is at the top of it stroke.
 
Sounds to me like you might have been 'resizing' using the seater die!

Post a photo of the die you were using first to resize.
(Did it have the de-priming pin / expander in it??)

Did you run the ram up all the way, and screw the die down tight against the shell holder?
Then back off the ram and screw the die in another 1/4 to 1/2 turn so your press 'toggles' at full ram extension?

Failing that, your sizing die, or more likely the expander plug is out of spec goofy for some odd reason.

Bad die. Even before crimping, being able to pull a bullet with your fingers, not good. Call RCBS ASAP.
 
Resize the case--if the bullet is loose--remove the expander ball & rod from the die. resize the case again---if the bullet is now nice & tight or hard to seat--
you have a bad expander ball
Get a new ball from RCBS
 
I had this same issue trying to reload with Remington bullets.

I bought some Armscor bullets & there was plenty of tension.

Check the size of the bullets.

I hope you find the solution!

Guys you we right ram the press all the way idk I guess I was only going to de prime and that was it. Propblem solved and looks like I wasted 100 primers.
 
They aren't wasted.

Carefully de-prime them and reuse the primers.

They will be fine unless the anvil falls out.
