In fall and winter I carry a Glock 23, in spring and summer a Glock 26. In spring/summer I'm just wearing button ups, polo's or t-shirts untucked and in fall and winter I vary between a jacket, a hoodie or a flannel. So the shorter grip on the G26 is a little easier to conceal than the G19 or G23 sized grip even with a 12 rd mag in it.
With Glocks if there's some holster wear or a ding it's not that big a deal. They're working/user guns, compare that with accidentally scratching the crap out of or getting a great deal of wear on a Nighthawk or Wilson Combat 1911.
In a way and for some applications and uses that's kind of what I like about Glock, the S&W M&P, the Sig 320 and the other run of the mill polymer pistols. They're all generic clones of each other, you know exactly what you're getting and there are very few differences between pistols of the same model.
A Glock 23 is a Glock 23. Put your money into the vending machine and out tumbles a Glock (or an M&P or a Sig 320 or whatever) and you know exactly what to expect. Very few variations between even a tarted up polymer gat and a base model.
What mods do you have on your Glock that raised the price by $3-400??
This wasn't directed at me, but I'm going to guess probably stippling, maybe a grip reduction, maybe an extended slide stop, possibly a Nickel Boron slide and then maybe Trijicon or other Hi-Visibility front and rear sights.
For instance I traded a Glock 42 fitted with Traction Grips and with a three mags for this Gen 4 G23 that was configured like that.
The grip of the G42 was just too small for me and my draw times with the Glock 42 were really slow in comparison with my other pistols. The Glock 42 I traded him also had both a +2 rd Ghost extension and a +1 Mag-Guts follower, one regular 6 rd flush magazine and one mag that had a pinkie extension and a +1 Mag-Guts follower. I don't know how much the grip stippling and the NiB slide and barrel and the Trijicon night sights on the G23 cost.
I'd love to hear guesstimates if anyone has any idea on how much the work would cost.
It cost me a little over $500 because the G42 I traded him I got into pretty cheap. Also the Gen 3 G26 I have was $400-something, a buddy did the stippling on that one and it's just on the front and rear of the grip rather than the whole thing. So between the two pistols that I trade out between depending on the season I chose the $500-$600 option. A replacement blue label G26 or G23 would cost me less than $450 but one of the two obviously costs more than $500, so that's the option on the poll that what I went with.

Police Evidence Room :
On the topic of if a carry pistol ends up in police custody, if either one of my current carry pistols ends up in the evidence room that's okay, that's what their purpose is. In my case I have a CZ-75 Compact that was in Police custody for awhile and the Police Dept just used steel wire to keep the barrel open and flagged and then they sealed it in a plastic bag along with the ammo.
The wire used scratched up both the barrel and the trigger guard and the whole thing was also covered in this greasy white finger print powder and that was a gigantic pain to clean off. All in all I was expecting much worse. Wished they'd used a frigging zip tie instead of steel wire, but whatever.
