Why Are Glocks Cleaner?

"Glock Perfection" is actually powered by carbon soot, so it's a self-fueling/self-cleaning pistol. Or so I read on the interwebz

It's because a Glock pistol is forbidden to get dirty. That's why it's "Glock Perfection"!

Could be the amount of lube. Could be the type of ammo you're using. Could be that you're comparing your Glock to a different type of gun that gets dirtier, like a .22.
Glocks don't run any cleaner than other locked-breech pistol of similar design.

Nah, they just come from the factory looking kinda nasty so one is less able to tell.
I used to think mine were running cleaner until I started using cut-up white tee shirts as range rags.

(semi-seriously) Isn't there an air gap between the frame and slide that just lets all the dirt blow out of the Glock?
No because I'm comparing the same caliber and the same brand of Ammo used in all the pistols as well as the same lubricant.

Also can be that all the gaps allow some of the carbon dust to dissipate

I notice that too. I think a few things might contribute to that. For one, Glocks have simpler machining than a lot of other guns meaning there are fewer cracks and crevasses for dirt to collect. I'm sure some debris comes out between the frame and slide as the fit is not tight and you can usually see daylight through a Glock. Also, the Tennifer finish on the older Glocks seems to repel dirt nicely.
The ones I'm comparing are all 380.

In addition to what giggitygiggity posted, here are some other ideas I had after seeing this list:kokapelli said:
The Witness and the Bersa are both blowback operated, not locked-breech like the Glock, so that could help explain the fact they get dirtier.
The Taurus TCP is a smaller pistol than the Glock so the same amount of carbon is deposited over a smaller area. Also, its barrel is unfinished metal. Both of these could make it look like it's dirtier than the black internals of the Glock, even if it's not.
And if you have a non-black slide, barrel, or frame on the P238, that could also explain why it appears dirtier than the Glock.
Ok the blowback vs locked breech makes sense, but the Sig does have a coated barrel.

Because they are so awesome that debris is afraid to take root. Seriously, I don't know- but they are very forgiving of little or no maintenance.

Glocks are no cleaner than any other semiauto handgun.
I clean mine after every range session because I shoot cast through mine,
and never noticed any lack of grime/soot buildup.

Same here. Same goes for rifles like ARs, AKs, SKSs, etc. In my personal observations, given similar ammo they all more or less get roughly the same amount of dirty.
I really don't think that my Glocks are cleaner after a range session than my TRP, but they are definitely easier to clean than my 1911. They're a lot more open and have next to no grooves and other hard to reach places for crud to get into
